I don't have an issue with Bautistas emotion due to the importance of the game but the standing there watching and emphatic bat flip was what I had a problem with. Toss the bat, run the bases and go celebrate with your team. He should have shook andrus hand while he was rounding second too because without his play that probably doesn't even happen. At least not there.
Gotta be honest...Mets' young fireballers vs. Cubs' young sluggers would be great too, but fuck that.
Harold Reynolds is a funny/nice guy, but that's as far as it goes haha. Can't believe he still gets paid to talk baseball. Just yet another classic case that even though you played the game, doesn't mean you have a clue what you're talking about.
Honestly if he wasn't black he'd be gone. He's just as horrible as all of the white ex players but brings diversity to the broadcast team so he sticks around like a bad cold. Maybe when Matt Kemp retires he can take a run at his spot!
That would be even greater if the Canadian comments didn't happen. Just speaking to his ineptitude in general.
Harold Reynolds had that unbelievable play and series of events that followed it, perfectly correct as soon as it happened. I guess I don't get the hate for him, and I'm not above it at all...but the guy was nails 18 minutes before it even came to a decision. he seemed to know his shit right then and there. Maybe I saw a different broadcast, but give the devil his due. The black devil... Oh, for all you anti-hosers....eh?
First, wow racist. Second, I can already see that. Vasgersian: Wow, what a great running catch by Pillar in centerfield! What goes into that kind of play Matt? Kemp: Maaaaan, you gotta be an athlete man. I remember when I was an athlete. Hell, I still am an athlete. Let's go play basketball man. I can still dunk and run those down because I'm an athlete maaan.
He knows the game and has a good personality. He's your safe choice and he does a good enough job for the casual fan. There is nothing offensive about Harold Reynolds. Clean cut, good guy. He's not Mccarver or Morgan who are just crappy humans. He's a slam dunk for a network. Probably good enough for 100% of the audience 15 years ago. But as the fans become more enlightened with advanced stats and information available at their fingertips, there is a large segment of the audience wants more from the commentary. The problem isn't so much Harold himself. Like you said, he did a great job breaking down an in game controversy. Awesome. There are things he does well. But if you don't have an analytic mind to challenge him or keep him honest, the fans are subject to only one point of view...And for every 18 minutes he does a good job, there's another 20 minutes of cliches and ignorance. It's up to the networks to balance the booth. These broadcasts can be brutal. What's the point of a 3 man booth if all the guys have the same school of thought?
Jays are gonna be pretty confident. I remember them handling KC after the trade deadline. I'm pulling for KC tho
