Yeah, this is bad. Dodgers are already getting the money, aren't they? Why is Stan on their side of this?
THe Dodgers get the money no matter what. It is Time Warner who might get screwed and file for Bankruptcy, similar to what Comcast had to do in Houston. I just hope this is the dirty slander before the deals get done.
The A la carte talk is bull shit from Direct-tv. And so too is the crap they are spewing on their website, ripping the Dodgers and Time Warner. It's amazing how unprofessional they are. Look, I don't want TLC, Disney Channel, E!, CNN, or just about every other channel...so why don't I have the option to not pay for that? Yes, they are much more inexpensive. But sports cost more for a reason. Especially baseball...it's endless live content that people don't DVR. Big money. And there should be something to be said about the quality of content this channel provides. The shows and content on SNLA is incredible. If anything they should drop one of the shitty FSN regional affiliates...oh wait, Direct TV has shares in those channels...nvm. Fucking fkags. I'm mad at the Dodgers as much as anyone for not taking any responsibility. They may not be obligated to (TWC is), but they had to know this was gonna happen. There was never any scenario where a deal was going to get done right away. Yet Kasten continues to be a blowhard and takes no responsibility.
Remember folks Time Warner is being sold to Comcast and where are they coming from? Also bankruptcy is use to protect from creditors and payments owed so the Dodgers could get screwed. http://www.latimes.com/entertainmen...e-over-20140403,0,6994648.story#axzz2xsKUnoGy This could down the road get legally ugly as Time Warner/Comcast eventually conclude their deal and Comcast plays their hand. .
I feel like this is just posturing on TWC's part. If I remember correctly, similar news came out like this in regards to the Lakers channel a few weeks before the deal got complete. Also, DirecTV is claiming that they are still in negotiations. TWC is probably just trying to get some more customers to switch over from DirecTV. Either way, I will be switching to TWC some point this year if DirecTV doesn't pick up Sports Net LA soon.
This sucks because I dumped Dish Network (and their low low prices) for DirecTV because they didn't carry the Lakers Network. Only now to deal with this Dodgers BS
With the money Time Warner is throwing around with no workable plan to support it, mixed with the significantly changing television/entertainment landscape, I think it's highly likely this deal gets broken before the 25 years are up.
It may not take anywhere near that long. This could impact the merger and the sale price and Time Warner Stock and shareholders could create waves.
Not only from the TWC side, eventually Dodger fans are going to get fed up and put pressure on the Dodgers if TV rights don't get distributed. Maybe it makes sense. Arguably the best Dodger team assembled since 1955, should have the same TV coverage.
Many are mad at TWC but to me that is not where the anger should be aimed at. TWC paid an awful lot of money for the right to own the Dodger games, and that money has to be made back in many ways. That is how capitalism works. TWC could just not ever let anyone buy the rights correct? The Satellite companies have the money and need to pay it. they had the right to buy the rights and failed for whatever reason, now quit screwing your customers and pay the price!
Nobody told TWC to pay as much as they did for it. Capitalism also works for the other providers to not pick it up if they don't want to, so I don't know why we should just assume they pay an unprecedented price for a channel like this. Just because TWC payed way more than they should? TWC could refuse to sell the rights, I suppose, but that would mean they make $0 per non TWC subscriber, less advertising revenue, and it probably breaches part of their contract with the Dodgers and MLB. Bottom line, TWC are bckunts. They fucking just made shit up to the LA Times so they don't look bad. Fuck them.
Some really good points going on in here. The way I see it is this. Like someone said above there are 50+ channels in my package that I NEVER watch. This is LA, we need the Dodgers on our TV's. TWC paid a shitload to have these rights, maybe directv is mad they have failed miserably with regional networks. If directv doesn't carry the network in the next billing cycle I'm out, they keep raising my bills for whatever reason anyway. Fuck em.
As much as I am putting this on TWC, if I could switch to their service I would do it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately I can't. But I am considering dropping Cox all together... baseball is/was 80% of the reason I have cable TV.
Same here, the wife watches that Bravo bullshit but I watch baseball, ufc, college football and the odd nascar race. I can get a free over the air antennae to watch pretty much 90% of that. I won't miss Bravo.
okay this whole not being able to watch my dodgers thing is getting really fucken old i don't fucken care who's fault it is; twc, direct tv, dish... whoever we're the ones who are suffering if you fucks truly cared for your customers as you often claim, you would have worked something out weeks ago fucken ckunt bkitches!!!
So even if we order the online package from mlb.com blackout rules apply unless we use Mousey's nifty trick right? To me that makes zero sense btw why would a fan of their home team constantly be banned from watching them if they pay a premium fee? Wouldn't it be in MLB's best interests to allow their home town fans to watch their home team?
But it's not in the best interest for cable/satellite companies. Or the networks/advertisers/etc. The idea is to force you to watch the local broadcast.
