dee has a higher ceiling but he has to prove he can get on base at the big league level a .299 obp isn't exactly getting it done the old adage "you can't steal 1st" seemingly applies even if cruz crashes and burns from this point forward at least he's had one successful tour so until dee proves otherwise, cruz > dee not to mention we still need to see if dee's recovered from his (steve sax/chuck knoblach) psychological/throwing issues that haunted him late last year...
Let Dee go work on his game for a AAAA team like the Royals for a couple of years. If he hits .300 we might call him.
Think about it this way, what are the odds Ellis, Youk and Hanley all play 160 games? Cruz as a super-sub would play 120 games and get at least 300 AB's. And Youk as the starter and Cruz as the utility guy >>> Cruz as the starter, Dee as the utility guy.
Dee has been having a solid winter season in the Dominican and SVS has hit 7 homers in 18 games. As far as the thread title goes, the agent for Torii contacted us 1st so I am not sure we are being aggressive. As for Youk he has been injury prone as of late so I don't want him.
I never have. He sucks. Just saying. Let the guys we have figure it out and get a guy later. Youk has aged horribly. Hitting .236 last season, his HR totals are gonna only drop, his OBP is no longer his claim to fame, he's ugly, etc.
He's hitting, but his glove has been terrible, which is the main concern. They need to shift him to 2B and let him play there all next year, so he can take over in 2014. SVS is a AAAA player...
The Dodgers need to keep HanRam on the right page or he is going to quit on them like he did the Marlins... The guy has the talent to stay at shortstop if he indeed is looking to get better and put the work in.. I don't know about Cruz being the everyday thrid basemen bc I don't know that much about him except that he loved beating the shit out of the Cardinals ullhair:..... The Dodgers won't have Mark Ellis past this year so, I would see if the Dodgers could move him over too second base for the future or filp him for a Starting pitcher if they can't land one on the open market. I'm sure the Dodgers are going to make the right move and everyone knows they have the to spend....
i don't think its hate. just haven't seen anything and i mean anything that warrants the hype on the kid.
Not saying he was good last season, but he was damn near great in 2011 and the sample sizes are nearly identical. I think he is the future at short and will stick with it.
Dee, Cruz, Youk.....all short term answers. Are you guys aware you can lock up third for the next five years without any messy contract negotiations? Just ask for arod and he's yours, you don't even have to say please or thank you.
Don't worry about it. Some guy named David Wright will be a Dodger soon enough. I've heard good things about him.
Izturis and Cora at SS and 2B respectively was bliss, defensively. Always grateful for Izturis too, cause it netted us Greg Maddox.
