totally agree, but here's the thing though... if ck is healthy, mattingly has the luxury of easing beckett back no way we'll ever know if that would have made a difference, but i know one thing... we just stood toe-to-toe with a possible al champion and held our own and best yet... we're an even better team with ck and wilson on the roster
We did stand toe-to-toe, for sure. Usually though when you give up 5, 6, 7 runs a game you're not going to win. Our pitching is definitely the strength of this team and has to keep us in the game. It's like the Giant series for example. How are you supposed to win when you give up 7 runs a game? Hopefully by sometime next month, we'll have CK and Bills back in the rotation. I know they're not going to pitch great every single time, but it seems like our main pitchers always keep us in the game for the most part and give us an opportunity to win.
yeah, i hear ya which is why, in the interim, games like haren's will be huge if josh and malhomO can go .500 till they get back... i'd be happy a lot of people down on kenley right now, and i get it... but i choose to give credit to v mart instead guy always seems to have 10+ pitch ab's and how soon we forget that just yesterday kenley blew away the triple crown/mvp with 98MPH cheese

The defense wins championships is true. So much of it is just not making the small mistakes. We don't need gold glovers at every position. Just guys who won't make errors so frequently that it costs our pitchers pitches and runs.
Reminds of Roy Hobb's line in "The Natural"...when the Knights were abyssmal and losing game after game, and he tells the manager, "I've been here-right here all the while... on the bench. You're the guy that puts players in, or not...but I'm here" .
Although it was a loss, that was a fun game to be at. That 9th inning was fun as hell. Wish Dee would shore up his defense as well as Kemp. Kemp was getting absolutely brutal reads out there. But man is it fun to have a team that isn't giving up
I was at the game last night, start to finish and it was a long ass fun game.. Actually got free tickets walking up to the ticket booth lol

Literally was walking up to the ticket booth to stand in line for tickets and this guy was walking up saying anybody want these 2 tickets for free and BOOM!
The worst person on DSP is still better than the average guy on the streets... So cool story. Glad to see someone deserving catching a break. Just be sure to pay it forward.
