Who will surprise us this year?

Every year, someone comes off the scrap heap or out of nowhere to make the season memorable (if only until we realize we are a .500 ballclub). Who do you think will be that player? You may choose one scrap heap and one rookie. Winner who picks both before first day of season will receive a great banner courtesy of whomever I can talk into making you one. Or just shut the fuck up and play along, bitches.

 

I believe Chris Withrow will be called up sometime towards the end of the season like Eovaldi was and he'll flourish. also Adam Kennedy will be revitalized and win 3rd base from faggot ass Uribe

 

Bills is going to surprise us with a fucking fantastic year. Chris Reed is gonna help us make it to the playoffs

 

Mark Ellis or Juan Uribe will surprise us on how bad someone can actually suck.

 

I was actually going to start a thread like this.

I think that Scott Van Slyke forces his way onto to the team by early June, then tears it up in the majors leading us to trade Loney, who is having a solid year, in return for decent prospects (remember, Ned is gone by then and White will at least be the interim GM, leading us to land some good prospect(s) in the trade).

 

I think Uribe and Billingsley will have major bounce backs. My out of the blue pick is Capuano. I think he'll deliver 200 innings with an ERA in the high 3's.

 

Sands has some sort of epiphany and becomes a home run machine. He fills the void in the batting order behind Kemp. And as a result of facing Sands with men on base, all the opposing pitchers in the division have developed embarrassing yellow stains in the crotches of their uniforms.

 

I'm goin' out on a limb and sayin' that Loney wins the batting title. But really, I say he finally gets close to .300 and 20. I'll also add Dee to the surprise mix.

 

One of the old fossils in the rotation will break-down, and Captain EO will make some noise in the back of the rotation.

 

Van Slyke for the rooks and Scott Rice for the out of nowheres.

 

The best bet looking at the numbers is Capuano or Billingsley

after reading some of the articles out there, my guess is that Uribe goes down injured and Josh Fields is called and takes over 3B... same could happen with Ellis at 2B and Castellanos

 

I kinda hope Fields makes the team. Lot of natural talent in that swing, and he seems to be very aware of the issues that kept him from repeating his rookie performance up to this point.

 

I like Fields and Castellanos. Fields is a lot like Uribe though.
