Stop combing your mustache while jacking off to Weekend at Bernie's and pay attention. Carl Crawford is on his way back. We are currently carrying only 12 pitchers. Capuano and League have looked very much like Capuano and League. Only SVS has enough options to be sent down (I think). You currently have an outfield of Ethier/Kemp/Puig. Puig has been a monster. Kemp has looked foolish but squared the ball up decently for about three games. Ethier is still not hitting like he has previously but has been improving (albeit with no power). Crawford was an awesome catalyst when he was up. He was the perfect leadoff guy and allowed M. Ellis to go back to the 2 hole where he is most dangerous and comfortable. What do you do? Before you answer consider these factors: Ethier turned 31 in April. He is a career .288/.360/.469/.829 hitter. However, his pop is down as is his avg, slg, obp, and ops. He is owed 69 mil through 2017. He has spent time on the DL twice for decent periods. However, he has never missed a complete season. Crawford turns 32 in August. He is a career .293/.333/.442/.775 hitter. However, since being in LA, his number have improved significantly and he resembles the Crawford of his TB days. He has spent significant time on the DL four times in his career. He is owed 82.5 through 2017. Kemp turns 29 in September. He is a career .292/.349/.491/.840 hitter. However, this year he is hitting a mere .251/.304/.342/.647. He has spent significant time on the DL three times in his career. He is coming off a shoulder surgery that has been known to take power from hitters. He is owed 128 mil through 2019. Puig is currently the best Dodger hitter. However, he has many options left to be sent down. He is only making approximately 7 mil per year. Tell me what you do. If you are going to trade someone, iterate the trade in detail and make it realistic.
I'd send down SVS, we don't need 6 capable OF's and he is the only one with options. I'm more inclined to keep Dre for the remainder of this season but if you can work a deal where we get a good return back for him whether it's specs or 2B or 3B then I'd trade him and call up SVS.
SVS goes down, I keep all four OFs for rest of the year cause of injury likeliness to 1, especially the Carl/kemp/Puig trio. In the offseason, who knows
Like I said in the Crawford thread, SVS is the odd man out, They aren'y getting rig of the vets with ML deals. Puig is locked into RF Crawford will get rest but is locked into the leadoff role Kemp and Ethier will be the one battling for time--advantage Kemp between them. Everyone will have tough match ups and need rest to stay healthy. Time will be portioned out fine. Dre will be gone likely in the offseason.
Well SDF, as you are asking me if I'm Ned, and putting a bullet on my head is not one of the options you offered, then I'll have to work on the facts you give... for now, I go with option SVS and keep CC, Ethier, Kemp and Puig... then play matchups with the first 3 with Puig locked every single day in RF, getting maybe 1 day off every 3 weeks... any possible deal for Ethier will have to be a 3-way cuz we arent selling (unless they trade for a starter before, but if they do I dont see a need to move him) and no eliminated team will be taking a contract like Ethier's, even if we pay part of it... saying that, the only possible teams for him to land are the Yankees, maybe Texas and maybe the Nationals... I cant see any other possible place where he could be an upgrade over their current options... assuming we dont trade for a starter, I would start offering Ethier and cash to the Yankees (who need any kind of help) and the Royals (who will be out of contention) Dodgers get James Shields and Greg Holland Yankees get Ethier and money Royals get prospects, including Joc Pederson that short RF fence on Yankee Stadium should provide some help to Ethier...
cuz Vernon Wells and Ichiro are a dangerous combination, right??? Ethier has played some 1B, so there's an upside...
and other prospects... the Shields move was focusing on the "win now" that clearly didnt worked... they can now take Shields and turn him into more prospects, as they for sure wont have the resources to sign him...
I thought the same thing. So the Royals trade Wil Myers for James shields only to flip him for Joc Pederson. Idk if I could stop laughing if that happened.
I agree we need all four OFs for now. Puig can only win so many battles with the wall. Plus you never know when Kemp or Crawford might pull up lame.
They still have him signed for next year and their young bats will have another year under their belt.if they make any moves this offseason it will be geared towards another win now push especially with dayton moore's job on the line.if shields is traded itll be at the deadline next year if at all
