Will Texas see a reuniting of best buddies in 2015. Was that sheer brilliance on the part of the Rangers to snatch Tolleson from us in the hopes of luring Clayton into free agency. Was that a major Cluster F on the part of Ned losing him? Does it really not make any difference? Just wondering. Go go on meltdown if you don't think so. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article/mlb...-perspective?ymd=20140110&content_id=66461204 ALL The Rangers may keep him just to help draw CK. Wonder if he asked any Dodger players and they all said no.
Wow, not sure how many have seen this. I just found it a few minutes ago. This is the man we are trying to negotiate an extension with. We are in discussion with his agent but not his leader. Perhaps the force he has given his life up to will ultimately guide his decision as it is so much about his life. http://www.iamsecond.com/seconds/clayton-kershaw/
Very exposing and of course, the kid has a superior attitude to his fellow man. And he has chosen a woman for his wife that sems to be perfect for his psyche and convictions. His faith in God is admirable, but I have always aked myself when I hear how "God can change things, and I am simply his instrument to do so and make it better for those less fortunate", why does God let the poor humanity suffer so in the first place. A tree fell on my house not to long ago. It went through my roof, and through my bedroom ceiling, and a large branch wound up on the side of my bed. Many people said, God was watching over you by making it happen in the daytime, when you were no sleeping. But, why make it happen at all, if he's pushing all the buttons? IDK know how this plays out as CK as a future Dodger, but whatever, he is a fine young man, and been given gifts, spiritually and physically (did you check out the size of his hands?), that make him what he is. Exceptional. However, if he goes, I'll always respect him for what he does, and root for him to suck as hard as I root for him to be great when he's on the bump for us. Baseball is just that.
get it done Dodgers Trying To Extend Kershaw This WeekBy Steve Adams [January 15 at 8:28am CST]The Dodgers and Clayton Kershaw are discussing an extension, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, who reports that the team would like to have an agreement in place by Friday. Los Angeles' preference is to have a deal in place by the time the two sides are set to exchange arbitration figures.Rosenthal reports that the two sides were close on a seven-year, $210MM extension last season before the Dodgers backed off and adds that early in the negotiation process, a 10-year, $250MM contract and a 12-year, $300MM pact were discussed. Rosenthal also notes that a five-year opt-out would allow Kershaw to hit the open market again at age 30 and position himself for an even larger payday. The Dodgers gave Zack Greinke an opt-out after three years of his deal, and Kershaw has the same agent -- Casey Close of Excel Sports Management.Kershaw is fresh off his third straight National League ERA title and his second Cy Young in three years, having pitched to a 1.83 ERA in 2013. Over the past five seasons, Kershaw has pitched to an incredible 2.43 ERA with 9.3 K/9 and 2.9 BB/9, and his command has improved in each of those seasons. He averaged nearly five walks per nine innings as a 21-year-old in 2009 but averaged just two per nine innings last season. Kershaw's accomplishments make it seem as though he's older than he actually is, but incredibly, he's still entering just his age-26 season. As MLBTR's Tim Dierkes noted back in April, CC Sabathia's $161MM guarantee is the largest "new money" extension ever signed by a pitcher, though Justin Verlander and Felix Hernandez have had larger guarantees that included the money from previously existing deals. MLBTR contributor Matt Swartz projected an $18.2MM salary for Kershaw next season if the two sides simply work out a one-year deal via arbitration, but a long-term deal would obviously require a significantly larger annual value. __
Latest update at 11:15 central time puts the extension at the 2 or 1 yard line according to Buster Olney.

@JonHeymanCBS: there's optimism surrounding possible kershaw multiyear deal. but some are cautioning: it's been "close" before.
My imaginary friend is a better pitcher than yours! But hey, at least he's not a Scientologist so someone who's actually deserving is benefiting from his charity.
@JonHeymanCBS: while there may have been brief talk of $300M "lifetime" deal for kershaw, more serious mid-year talk said closer to 250M.
Although it certainly matters, this is not really news. In my mind it will only be news if he leaves.
Finally Stan weighs in on the "iminent"deal 1:57pm: Club president Stan Kasten has confirmed that the club is looking to complete a deal with Kershaw in the near term, according to a tweet from Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times. "I am hopeful that, by the [arbitration exchange] deadline Friday morning, we can work something out," Kasten said in reference to Kershaw.
Knowing how little Stan usually says (see his recent comments on Tanaka) on these matters, I have to think it's virtually done.

Though he declined to discuss the Japanese hurler, Kasten said that he does not "think any one contract impacts any other." __
