I will retract my arguments a bit as we could be moving towards an apples vs oranges debate. You make some good points, but refusing to draw a white supremacist cartoon is a little different than refusing to sell a cartoon I would sell to anyone else, to someone who is a white supremacist. In the same way, refusing to make a cake for a gay person is different than refusing to make a gay cake. However, I'm not arguing that someone should be forced to do either. I don't really have a huge beef with people being able to refuse making cakes. In Arizona you already have the right to refuse to make a cake for someone. The law I originally referred to was the recent Arizona State Bill which was broadly worded to include refusing anything (including public accommodations), by anyone (including public employees), for any "religious" belief. Personally, I've never liked laws that provide exclusive protection of religious beliefs and practices, as opposed to simply the protection of an individual's beliefs and practices. But also, the bill in question was overly broad, as I understand it. Looking back at your first statement, my objection was really against the slippery slope comment. I think the slippery slope is to allow broadly defined discrimination by passing laws like Arizona Bill 1062... I don't think you and I are all that far apart in our actual beliefs, but we might be far apart on which side of the hill we would rather fall if we did.
Mousey, I think we are probably pretty close in what we believe overall. I am a libertarian. I think pretty much any government intrusion is bad. I do not agree with the law on general principal. It is overreaching and problematic. However, I am also vehemently opposed to the regulation of business to pacify. I think that certain individuals of all beliefs will use those beliefs to hold another hostage and extort what they can. It is very difficult to disprove a negative and once any sort of ist label has been placed, the business owner must work to shove off such an image which comes across as "me thinketh the lady protesteth too much". We have become a society that placates to the point of propping. Again, slippery slope. I do get your point about the typical cake to whomever versus a specific cake for whatever.
Looks like Guerrero is already getting comfy!! I'm happy for him! Not that it means anything but it looks like he modeled his homerun trot after Pujols. This is the only "salami" we should be discussing in this thread. j/k
BleedBlue, I bet that gif sig of yours is costing this site traffic. It might "compel" guys to visit "other" sites. lol I'm pretty sure it's gotten me at least once...lmao
i know its just spring but the bully blowing leads is already old. i know they are working on pitches etc. but cmon guys. and league is over they just need to release that fucker.
i fucken hate league dude is seriously a waste of a roster spot and will likely cost us rosin or someone else much more valuable than him and his ghastly contract bravo ned
Ahem. Well put. The Chick-fil-A example is perfect... they may have great chicken but I don't want MY money going to a guy who thinks like that. So it doesn't. What's to protest? If a gay wants one of my products then I take his money and happily shut the fuck up. My comments a bit late but your post was worth the time to say Thank You.
Yeah as a fan, although I'm not paying this bum's salary, I would like to exorcise this mofo to Cleveland or to the Paduca Bollweevils or some shit. To a galaxy far, far away. Tatooine would be a good place...he's always getting tatooed when he comes in... perfect. Whatver this guy had, it's gone, baby, gone.
Yeah BZ we should have never wasted coin on this loser... last year was no anomaly... a WHIP of 1.546 ? gasp... sputter... a H/9 of 11.4!! gads...and ERA of 5.30? NEXT !!! Someone show this kid the door already
It's like the Great Philosopher, Tom Niedenfuerer once said, "a RP will go out there 5 times. One time, he'll be unhittable, one time he'll have nothing....it's what he does with those other three times that makes or breaks him". (Or something pretty close to that). I just think Brandon is batting practice those other three times. I think he's a weak link in a damn good looking relief corps.
