I see. So no one remembers he was the glue that held this team together when NOBODY could hit last year. Somebody stamp my passport for the land of 'Whathaveyoudoneformelately.'
He's used to being an iron man, yet he's no longer a spring chicken. Let SVS hit against a lefty starter every now-and-then, give Gonzo a little more time off.
totally agree svs should spell adrian at least once a week at 1b shit, dbb can do it when he puts out one of his "winning" lineups also, svs should get more pt period let kemp/dre platoon
The thing about Adrian is that he's our first basemen. He HAS to hit at that position. And not a .780 OPS. For 20 mil at 1B, maybe it's unfair but you have to hit. He's not playing up the middle or anything where there's value in hitting average but playing a premiere position. He's playing a defensively easy position where the average at the position is a good hitter. That's what worries me. He might be hittin better relative to others but for 1B, he needs to do better. It probably isn't our biggest problem though but it wouldn't hurt. I can't believe the position we are in considering 1B, LF, and CF. Amazing
I understand what you're saying about defensively easy, but first is largely underrated in terms of fielding. True there aren't as many batted balls to field, but there are a ton of errant throws (just look at the rest of our infield, for instance) to deal with. Just as James Loney before him, Adrian fields the position very well. Still, I take your point about it being an offensive position.
He was really good for a stretch this season. Hitting a lot of Hrs...now slumping again. It's the "non-steroid" era.
I'm one of those dinosaurs that believes that RBIs are the single most important stat a hitter can put up there, I don't give a shit what combo of letters is supposed to be more important now. Although he has plummeted in average and OBP, and whatever other stuff, he still bangs in the most runs on the team, and is a leader in the NL with his RBIs. Getting OB means poop if no one knocks them in. Let Dee and the others get on, and let Agon get the hit at that time. If he bats .268, and has 106 RBIs in the end, that will be OK with me. It is infuriating when he kills a rally, and his makes-AJ-look-fast foot speed drives me nuts, I am truly aware...but he is what he is.
You made an Andre thread and he began to heat up a bit and now Adrian has some good games for us. You're the best TB
