lol yeah offensively we'll be cool how about defense? lol man sucks how he and Randle don't fit together in the slightest bit
Andrew Wiggins couldn't guard a statue....no wonder he always posts good looking stats while Minnesota loses. Dude plays zero defense.
as much as i want to see them tank i have to say it was pretty sweet to see flashes of the old kobe for one night
Gotta start thinking more along the lines of development, my man. What may not seem like a smooth fit right now could be just that in 2 or 3 years (or sooner than that), unless you feel both guys are doomed to never shoot the ball well from the outside.
Still, expect something similar to this if Simmons is handling and isolating along the sideline/baseline and Randle's defender loses him or " doesn't respect his shot "...Randle dive, Randle jam. Simmons will see that pass or any other one when the help comes
Lakers are still in excellent shape. Tank standings: 1. 76ers: 7-41 2. Lakers: 10-41 3. Nets: 12-37(Owned by Boston) 4. Suns 14-36 T4. Wolves 14-36 76ers have been a much better team with Ish Smith running the show and I can see this being very close down the wire. Worst record doesn't guarantee anything anyways and I'd be very happy with Ingram if the Lakers missed out on Simmons. Feels bad to root for losing, but it's for the best.
Simmons and Russell play making would be amazing to watch I'm all for "fuck the fit" if we have a coach that lets them play 33 minutes a night of must see TV lol
Wasn't quite saying fuck the fit, moreso just to have some patience and let it develop. I mean if we get the #1 pick, you aren't thinking that they'd take Ingram over Simmons because of Ingram's ability to shoot are you? I mean I like Ingram a ton, but not enough to back taking him over LeBron 2.0 Simmons/Randle/Russell could be something special after they go through their KD/Westbrook/Harden-like early years of development, possibly even before then because Simmons and Randle are coming in more NBA ready than KD and Westbrook and when you look at DLo's #s in comparison with rookie Harden's he's doing quite alright. In fact, DLo's rookie numbers look more like Harden's soph-season numbers, damn near identical and Harden was 21yrs old that year, of course DLo is 19. But yeah there was a report that said the next 2 1/2 months are make or break for BScott, that they need to see better play or he's gone. And with that said, I think the reports are silly because they need to be losing games to get this draft pick and obviously playing better just gives them a better shot at winning ( like tonight). There's nothing that can happen over the next 2 1/2 months that change who BScott is. Just more PR bull IMO, saying what impatient fans want to hear and also laying groundwork to perhaps make a run at Luke for the HC spot if he's ready for it.
agreed scott is not the guy you want leading this team after this year you need someone better at developing the young talent we currently have and simmons/ingram/whoever else next year
Personally, I'm not against having BScott stay on another year tho. I like the shit he's putting DLo through. Taking the LAL throne shouldn't be easy. He'll be tougher for it. It's not like DLo isn't playing, he's playing more minutes than any of these all star caliber guards played when they were 1st coming in and he's younger, less physically mature. Getting more minutes as a bench player than he was as a starter. Also don't know that Luke is some great developer of young talent, he took over a ready-made B52 bomber in the Bay. Just saying that's what I saw when I read the report, seemed like it was laying groundwork for the end of BScott.
Do you think Clarkson will come back next year? I dont know if the Lakers will pay him what other teams may offer him... not sure if he is worth it. Specially on our team that will be lacking any high level long range shooters. Right now the best future 5 would have a team of Clarkson, Russell, Randle, Nance, and Simmons if we draft him. Thats 3 PF types that are versatile. Running them 3 together in the front court would be murder on the fast break for opposing defenses. Specially with two combo guards behind them pushing up the ball and making plays. If Ben Simmons is a LeBron/Melo/Garnett/Bosh type then he can play anywhere he is needed, even if hes just a Lamar Odom without the head problems... which would be a great player. Julius Randle is like a middle class version of the big PF sized player who has both natural athletic ability and special talent with guard skills. Like an Odom/Al Harrington. If he continues to put on muscle and becomes more low post oriented he could become a quicker Zack Randolph. Thats not bad at all. Larry Nance Jr is like a poor mans version of those guys. Like a Louis Amundson or a working mans Tom Chambers. Russell projects into a James Harden/Brandon Roy combo guard type if we are lucky. Clarkson is tough to quantify. He is a SG with limited range like Monta Ellis who can moonlight as a PG with mediocre vision and passing but good scoring... again like Monta. Clarkson is a little taller and looks to have hope of improving his long range shot. Im guessing they will let Clarkson sign with another team that way ensuring his Arenas rights. That gives the team 2 more summers with low salary commitment. If Clarkson signs and the Lakers match the offer the most Clarkson makes the next two years is like 4 to 5 million per year. It then balloons to like 20M per for the next two or three years. Buys time to go after the big guns while still keeping a nice piece for support. The balloon payment wont matter much other than in luxury tax because im sure the team is going to spend hard the next two offseasons.
