Logan was brought here to hit left handed pitching and he has been doing that at a .371 clip and playing solid defense.

Chris Taylor is the same, only far better. If Plugging him into Forsythes roll and plugging a superior option into left makes the team better, you go for it. The only gamble is on Taylor's sample size and sustainability. One that I would be willing to gamble on, however.

The Rangers are putting out feelers with other organizations to gauge interest in star righty Yu Darvish, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports. While Texas isn’t yet ready to pursue a trade, per the report, it seems the club’s recent skid has put that option firmly on the table.

TEX has lost 5 games in a row, is now 4.5 games behind NYY/TB for the AL wild card

    Pretty much
He's a FA after the season, but he's better than the controllable Gray, so maybe that evens out their value?
Bidding will more than likely decide who's more expensive here
Yankees are possibly the only other suitor that'd look into re-signing Darvish after the season, so maybe they'd value him more than the Astros/Brewers/ROX
Perhaps LAD would value Darvish similarly to NYY
Greinke hit the FA market 32, Darvish hits it at 31

Lets just trade for Darvish to act as a recruiter for Otani, am I right?

They're pumping up Darvish/LAD on MLB Central right now
Cubs are also kicking the tires on Darvish..another team that'd maybe value him similarly to NYY

Honestly though, I would really like a Darvish acquisition. I feel like that gives us a really balanced starting 3 in the post-season. Your throwing 3 starters that all have completely different repertoires. Obviously Gray throws in a different look with his sinker, but personally I like the way Darvish fits into the rotation better.

    1. Kershaw - Fastball and slider dominant w/sexy curve.
    2. Darvish - EVERY PITCH EVER CREATED AND THEN SOME
    3. Wood - Sinker dominant w/change and curve

I love the FO, but they will be dead to me if they let the Cubs get Darvish. He'd be the perfect guy for our rotation and shouldn't cost a ton due to being a rental.

Yeah, getting Darvish improves our team but it also takes away from a potential playoff opponent(Cubs) which is almost just as important in my opinion.

I think they'll end up easily winning the Central because the Brewers are a fluke and I don't want them getting any stronger.

I will be very annoyed if the fucking Cubs get Darvish, but I won't pass judgement until I see what the return is. The Cubs now have a bottom 10 system, but they also have some underperforming young players on the roster that still have high value to some teams. If the Cubs called and offered a package around a Schwarber, Russell or Baez, we would be S.O.L. and I could see them do that even if it is on a rental as Darvish would probably be their ace.

He's an ace. He's going to get an immense haul regardless.

I think Darvish is the guy MGT should target, but what would we give up to get him. Given that this is a weak SP market I kinda think it would take one of our untouchables to get him. Does anyone think it can get done without giving up one of the top 3?

But he is only a rental.....FA next year. That should significantly cut down his return.

I'd give up Alvarez in a heartbeat, providing the FO feels it could re-sign Darvish.

Not sure I'd do it for Darvish as a rental.

It'll obviously be less than if you were trading for six years of control, but it's not going to be a bargain. There are many instances in recent history of high caliber SP's in the 'rental' category fetching multiple top 100 prospects. Hamels, Cueto, Sabathia off the top of my head. Chapman was also a rental. These guys simply don't go for bargains.

I'd do it in a heartbeat even if Darvish is a rental.

I could also see the Cubs telling the Rangers, "Yeah, tell folks we are interested to get the Dodgers, Nats and Brewers to potentially bid up against each other."
