Man, with all the moves other teams are making, would really like to get some additional arms in the pen at least.

Feel confident they’ll get at least one. There’s way more supply then there is demand.

Giants fielding offers on McCutchen... lol

What could they even get for him at this point? A single-A arm with swingman upside? Their desperate attempt to stay relevant with McCutchen and Longoria will go down as one of the most pathetic things i’ve seen in baseball this millennium.

Talk about being grateful not to be a Gnats fan. Cueto is probably out all this year and all of next with that massive contract. Alphabet Soup is out and hasn't been that effective when in. They don't have much talent yet in the minor leagues. Posey and Pence aren't getting any better and have lost all their power. They signed ridiculous deals for Longoria and McCutchen...both of whom have done nothing.

AND they are right at the $197M. Talk about a waste of money. Gnats also went out and said they would not trade MadBum even though that would probably be their best move to stock up on prospects and quick start the rebuild which will happen.

The way they are handling this, Gnats may end up sucking for awhile.

Yup. And the attendance is plummeting. Interest and enthusiasm is probably as low as it has been since like...early zito days. Pretty glorious.

.... and 3 recent WC's to show for it. I won't shed a single tear if they suck for a decade but if we don't get one (or more) soon it ain't party time on their gravestone, IMO.

I’m worried that their first round pick this year may be a legit superstar, but besides that there is not much to get excited for. They’re said to be gearing up to go the hardest after Harper this offseason, so that would be interesting.

The iron has been hot the last few seasons and the Dodgers have been striking but they have been hedging their bets and kinda betting scared.
This year they have gone all in and hit gold with Machado.
He was the best everyday player readily available who should be the best bargain of this current 3 to 4 year player movement window.
Getting Machado is better than getting Stanton or any of the other Marlins and better than getting Bryce Harper.
Nerds aren't limp dicking it anymore!

Guess Gnat fans don't give a rat's ass about the past.." what have you done for me lately? " The way it should be.
Ownership will probably follow suit and tab a scapegoat pretty soon.

I live in the Bay Area.....and even diehard Gnats fans are going to deal with the monumental pain of going to a Gnats game at AT&T.

I was actually in the City on Sunday, and the usual parking structure I go to suddenly jacked up the parking price from $20 all day to $40 because of (1) the Gnats game against the Brewers and (2) some stupid "marathon" for amateurs and drunken idiots.

I saw people in Gnats hats literally willing to walk 5 miles to get to the stadium because public transportation is a shambles in the City AND there is literally a battle for parking.

In addition to the fact that ticket prices are HIDEOUSLY over priced (because of the idiot Silicon Valley BS and their enabling groups....lawyers, VCs etc), not including the freaking astronomical prices AT&T charges for any food. I end up having to go to some God awful Java House to fill up on over priced Bud but $2 dollar hot dog water hot dogs.

No wonder for the past few years attendance is down.

Yet KNBR, the local sports station, keeps talking crap about everyone they play on their radio station...even though they suck, and then you hear all the BS Gnats fans crying over everything after talking that shit.

    I live in a nightmare.

Interesting for a number of reasons. Perhaps most notably, Harper is infamous in the bay with all their postseason history. And then of course it's a nice size gamble to hand over a monster contract to an OF in the NL, but especially when the rest of the team sucks.

I could see if they were contenders and needed one more piece, but signing Harper, for them..great potential to be just another turd log thrown into the fire there. Similar to this year's wild McCutchen/Longoria attempt, but potentially much more damaging

Sabean and Bochy will be gone after their contracts (not sure when that is). I’m hoping their trend of recent stupidity will continue and they’ll grab two more dinosaurs for replacements. More important in the FO obviously.

The Gnats problems run much deeper than lack of power from the outfield. And the Bart dude they picked up, you never know. They talked a lot about Christian Arroyo and they sent him off after about a half a season of playing in the big leagues.

If they blow their load on Harper who is not exactly lighting it up this year, fine.

Dave's not going anywhere bro, but Bochy now is a different guy than going back 8 years or so. Circumstance and health have taken it's toll, imo.
Back then though, he was far better than anyone we could hope to have.

If they're looking down the road at replacing those two, ownership may not want to lock into a long term/expensive deal with Harper this winter.

Here's hoping Sabean and Bochy survive, that they get Harper and anchor SFG's dicks in the dirt for a good 10 years
