Peter Gammons is on mlb network now saying that Hanley is NOT happy with the Reyes signing which would make Hanley play 3rd. I like Dee but having Hanley on the market wow.
Getting Hanley would be crazy but there is no way Ned does something like that... In regards to Hanley moving to 3rd, they are wasting Matt Dominguez's talents... He is a great fielding 3rd baseman but his hitting is mediocre. If Hanley is going to hold down 3b, they should shop Dominguez because slotting him at 1b is a waste.
Every team without a legend or legend in the making at short I think would be interested in trading for this guy. Breaking news Buerhle signs with the Marlins. 4 years 58 million.
Sad that the Marlins payroll will be more than ours. Fuck, likely 20 teams will have a higher payroll than us. Fuck McCourt and Fuck Ned.
Giants aren't resigning Beltran, so they basically traded Zach Wheeler for jack-shit I hope Sabean is there forever and that ned joins him soon
I was all about a Beltran grab before we signed Rivera. I still think he would a very viable option. Look at his stats. Last year when he was finally healthy he had over a .900 OPS. He also hit 22 homeruns between NY and SF. That would have been 2nd on this team. He would be a very good cheap option. Use Rivera to spell Loney and Beltran. Use Sands to spell Ethier or however we need to do it. Hell, if we had Beltran and Rivera, we could actually bat both of them against lefties. If Ned grabbed Beltran, I would almost forgive him for this shitty offseason. Dee/Ethier-Rivera/Kemp/Beltran/Loney-Rivera/Uribe/Ellis/Ellis/P
fuck the brewers! they will lose prince and KRod is going to accept arb! rofl. they're going to be paying like 16M to be a setup man. they gambled offering him arb and it's going to backfire thats what they get for having braun win mvp >.< /bitter
Angels To Sign Albert Pujols By Tim Dierkes [December 8 at 8:56am CST]The Angels are the bridesmaid no more. Albert Pujols will sign with the Angels for ten years and $250-260MM, tweets Yahoo's Tim Brown. He'll receive a full no-trade clause. Pujols decided this morning, writes Brown. If Pujols received more than $252MM, his new deal will be the second-largest in baseball history in both its total and average annual value.Pujols, 32 in January, was drafted by the Cardinals in 1999 in the 13th round and began his career with a staggering 11-year stretch. The first baseman is the active career leader in batting average (.328) and slugging percentage (.617), he's second among active players in career on-base percentage (.421). Pujols owns a Rookie of the Year award and three MVP awards, and has ranked no worse than ninth in the MVP voting in every season of his career. He's been extremely durable, averaging 155 games per season. In 2011, Pujols struggled to meet his lofty offensive standards early, and had a scorching June cut short by a small fracture in his left wrist. He recovered quickly from the injury and hit .318/.375/.579 the rest of the way, though overall his 9.4% walk rate was a career-low. The Cardinals signed Pujols to a long-term deal in 2004, which ended up being a huge bargain at $111MM over eight years. Pujols and the Cardinals failed to find common ground on an extension in February this year, but the contract didn't seem a distraction as the team ended up winning the World Series. The suddenly free-spending Marlins made a competitive bid for Pujols, offering a ten-year deal. They seemingly dropped out after signing Mark Buehrle, and up until Thursday morning, the Cardinals were considered the favorite.
I know that in like 5 years they will be regretting it but if they win a World Series cause of this, I might have to blow up their stadium; I know TB is gonna be pissed just cause there fans are fucking annoying I hope the Mariners get Fielder and the Rangers get Darvish and the Angels rot in hell
Front loaded contract most likely but hey Arte is making another splash like he is prone to do to take the media attention away from the Dodgers. More power to them but make no mistake we had NO SHOT at doing this financially with McCourt as owner but hopefully the next owner can at least on paper. So now what do they do with Trumbo? Wonder how he feels. EDIT: C.J. Wilson now signs? Holy smokes, got to give them credit.
i guess i am the only one who thinks this is one of the stupidest contracts ever. pujols doesn't have two years left in the tank let alone five. this is the kind of deal that can devastate a franchise. thank god we didn't do it. but i know my boy capntree has to be excited.
