Obviously Gonzalez is gonna get a chance but when September rolls around, if he's not one of the best 9 players...forget him. Let's award the best players and win a damn championship
I know it's old fashioned shit but I want to give Gonzo a chance just to figure it out because of what he has done for the franchise and the city. It doesn't hurt that he has pedigree and a defense with Gonzo at 1st and Bellinger in left is our best line-up to me. I do advocate a shorter leash however.
this is going to sound harsh but... that's the kind of thinking that costs teams championships sentimental shit is great for made for tv movies but on this stage, come playoff time, you put the best 9 on the field or you risk going home no exceptions
Thus my short leash comment. Chemistry also can cause titles to be won or lost too. I'm not there but I'm sure many if not all of the players admire, respect and love A-Gon and in their eyes if A-Gon doesn't get a legit shot to come back they may take exception. Knowing A-Gon from the outside I think he'll bow out for the good of the team at this stage of his career.
doubt he'd bow out and i think the chemistry thing is overrated, especially in this case there's not one player in that dugout that thinks agon would be a better option at 1b than cody, offensively or defensively roberts will give him more than enough pt to show he's got something left if he does, great if not, sorry... fuck him don't need a sub .250 hitter w/no power clogging up the middle of the lineup
Despite his veteran status and accomplishments, I don't think Adrian has ever been regarded as a strong clubhouse presence.
I was going to say the same thing. Obviously none of us are in the clubhouse and chemistry in general is overrated... But I think it says a lot that guys like Utley and Uribe got so much praise and adoration from young guys and not Adrian.
Cubs had chemistry, Royals had chemistry, in the past our clubhouse was deemed as divided and using the eye test it looks like they really really like each other. Do we actually think that we signed Chase because of his play only? Listen it's not the be all end all but to deny it's a factor is a mistake IMHO. A-Gon gets respect from the latin players I truly believe it and don't try and change my mind.
Heard someone on the MLB Radio Network saying the same thing about Uribe. Saying what a great presence he was with every team he played for.
