Like the Cubs GM was asked last year, "why are we trading these talented kids now for Chapman"?
And answered, " if not now, then when"?
And then they won the world championship.
Yeah, it's time for us to win a championship...if not now, when?
We've got to crack that WS shell we haven't gotten through in so long...so very long. Once we do, then we can rally around our depth, and FO, and money, and cleverness etc., and seek that future that we read is so bright - blinding, even!
But without that first ring now, it all amounts to jack shit.
Fodder for experts "who are we trading for or should be bringing up now" to save our souls? Over and over, ad infinitum...
Same boring shit as always. The kids are wonderful...Pederson and Seager and Bellinger...the rest? The Reddicks, Forsythes, etc...not so much. Not enough, ever. Not so far. In whatever combo they are. Or have been.
Is this historic group/team the right assemblage, finally?
    It's gotta get done.

Angelos needs a wake up call or a psych exam.

Ravin to AAA as I suspected.

According to his sources, it was something similar to what the Rangers got. So maybe Alvarez and 2 A level prospects? But yeah, that pisses me off

Reasonable to assume if this was in addition to Darvish, then at least one of the "untouchables" would have been dealt?
So , if the Yu deal is a raging success, as everyone thinks, then I guess the guy did us a favor then by squashing it, no?
Love to find out who we supposedly offered....

I'd bet the offer was Yadier Alvarez + two interesting lower level guys

Isn't Alvarez the one that touches 100? I could see MGT giving him a call up in September and using him out of the pen. Besides, I was not sold on Britton. Already spent time on the DL this year and when he came back his July was not good enough to warrant giving up Alvarez.

As the others said, it was likely Alvarez, not Buehler or Verdugo. They could have offered Verdugo or Buehler straight up and I would bet that the O's GM would have had the owner murdered in the event he turned that down.

But at least this time everyone can universally blame it on the players. Not some silly narrative about "the NERDZ".

i don't think i was one of those guys at least that i recall
i think i was more hoping for the best and not exactly getting the need for the complexity of some moves
my hate is mostly reserved for mccourt even now w the parking lots
i give the nerds a ton of credit for what they have accomplished so far and this is definitely on the players
FO is clearly talented and wise
love seeing our young guys getting the chance to prove themselves and they are assessing them spot on
my least favorite era was the piazza/sheffield/chan ho premadonna group of overpaid losers
this product is an absolute joy to watch no matter how it turns out
