Does the defense get marginally better in the infield with Belli? We've seen his magic in CF, no doubt and he's elite..but don't forget about his defensive magic @ 1B in pivotal playoff games. He's elite in the infield as well

A strong glove in CF with a decent bat + strong baserunning is more valuable to a WS effort than anything AJ Pollock is bringing..who I'm surprised has even survived 2020. Great mini regular season..time to move him

BTW, Cody was moved to the outfield because he dislocated his right shoulder diving for a ball, the same shoulder he dislocated celebrating his HR in the Braves series. I doubt the FO will want him to play 1st again unless they are desperate for a 1st baseman

If it's a case of protection I would understand that. Their investment. They know how to protect him better than anybody else. Not that he couldn't get injured doin stuff in CF..or after HRs :D:D

It is, I mentioned it as well. He is hesitant about diving for balls like a 1B does and the OF allows a bit more protection to the shoulder.

They have to remedy that. The shoulder, I mean. He's still great in the field, anyway, but what if he could be better? Without a single % of restraint or hesitation. What if it's just 1 good pop away?

Surgery? Treatment? Is it time for him to put the blunt down and pick up a sandwich and a dumbell? Is he triple jointed and this is just gonna be one of the stories of the rest of his career - this shoulder? I didn't think the shoulder would be a problem after an offseason, but continued protection next season?

Not much you can do about the shoulder except try to strengthen the muscles around the shoulder.....and don’t do stupid celebrations. Eventually, it’s gonna grind down.

I don't know how accurate this is, but sporttrac.com has the Dodgers' luxury tax payroll at $190 million, leaving about $19 million to work with. I'm pretty sure this includes all arbitration estimates, of which Corey Seager is probably extremely lowballed at $12 million, so the real space available is likely less than $19 million. That is, of course, if staying under the tax threshold is important.

My vote is for whatever is needed..including a serious diet and strengthening workout schedule this offseason. Time for him to man up. Prime Junior Griffey never had girly man shoulders or a bird chest and he floated around just fine.

Belli would be just as athletic somewhere in the neighborhood of 215..if its the right kind of weight. The continued development of Cody Bellinger is an acquisition in itself. Natural development, that is..no shortcuts. No PEDs. Not his drug of choice, anyway

Yeah, they may not do much if anything this offseason. Which sucks cause teams that win a WS are usually coming off of pile's of cash with more to come the year ahead. They don't really need to do anything on either side of the ball with guys like Rios, Lux, Ruiz, McKinstry, Peters, Estevez, Thomas and Mann available to fill in bench spots or in the Rios/Lux/Ruiz category, potential starting spots. Pitching to come are Gray, White, Miller, Beeter, Knack, Carrillo Pepiot, Grove Jackson, Ortiz and a reliever whose name is escaping me right now. Everyone mentioned are guys that were scheduled for upper minors this year before the shut down. Knack, Miller and Beeter were all college draft picks that could have quick turnarounds. The org could say, "we won and we aren't losing enough that will kill our playoff chances, so we can afford to sit tight and try out some specs this year."

I’m game for a quiet offseason. More opportunity for young guns means a wide open window. We’re so fucking set up right now.

I hope the Dodgers can replenish their minor league talent. A lot of players have come up to the big leagues, and we’re not going to get high draft picks the way we are playing. The scouting department has their work cut out for them.

I just did an update on the prospects thread. Sounds like the Alt site was pretty beneficial for some guys.

if guys like Hand and Wong are being tossed aside i'm sure some useful talent will show up on our doorstep
its really cool running out a starting staff of all homegrown guys and that tradition looks to go on for a while
i'd like to improve the guys coming off the bench like Beatty, is he still going to be a thing going forward?
and since we are likely to lose Kike and Joc to multi year starting positions it'd be nice to find some veteran pop
think they need to bring Treinen back

I wonder if the Alt-site becomes a more common thing, if guys experience accelerated development there. MLB has already talked about wanting to phase out some of the minor league affiliates.

Puig is a complete moron. That doesn't mean he's guilty by any stretch, but this news doesn't surprise me.
