Don't think it should surprise anyone. It's not like Puig hasn't put himself in position to be robbed before..multiple times

The year in which these things get reported never fazes me. He could be completely innocent - or he could just be late with the hush money he's been paying since that year. Don't know enough yet to say either way. Just not surprised that we're here

Thought maybe he was hitting on some Saggy P's leftovers, then I found out he left the Lakers the previous year.

The Braves declined Darren O'Day's $3.5M option... that is pretty wild. Since coming back from injury last year he has been excellent. They did not really let him pitch a ton in the playoffs, but we did get to him in the Braves 8-7 game 2 victory. This really could be a wacky winter a completely terrible way.

If Puig did this at an all too familiar Denver hotel he finally got his wish to be the Dodgers' Kobe!

I disagree. You just mentioned a bunch of guys who would be worse options at third base than JT. Seager is our SS, Hoese isn’t even close to ready, I trust JT way more with the bat and glove than Rios, Muncy is a defensive liability bigger than Turner. That leaves Will Smith who is a catcher. Like he could adapt, but there aren’t any assurances there

I really hope MLB finds a way not to fuck up the universal DH because it greatly benefits us and it can benefit us more now that we really know Austin Barnes’ tremendous value to the pitching staff

Smith is only 25 and a good athlete for a catcher. I don't see any reason why he can't iron out his flaws as a receiver.

I want Smith off of catcher because his bat might be too valuable and that will wear him down as seasons progress

I wonder if he yelled out KOBE! as he got the rebound and went up hard at the rim.

Rays out here declining a 15m dollar option of Charlie Morton who is worth nearly twice that on a 1 year deal. There are going to be A LOT of bargain deals this off-season. Dodgers should get aggressive IMO

LOL so AJ Hinch gets to sit out the tough 2020 season, doesn't have to deal with any of the shit in Houston, and then gets another job just like that. Man, life must be tough for this guy. MLB showed him. Fuck the Tigers now, I guess.

Yeah we’re most likely losing depth with so many of our core bench guys getting paid elsewhere. Gotta strike and replace them.

I want a dynasty damn it!

It's easier than managing the Astros right now.

If the FA market gets bad enough, I imagine there could be a lot of guys out there willing to take low-priced 1-year deals so they can hit FA again next year, when things are hopefully better.

    • The Brewers are declining their $4.5M option for Jedd Gyorko. Gyorko had a big bounce back year that included a .837 OPS. Ryan Braun was also let go late last night.
    • The Phillies declined their option on reliever David Robertson. Robertson was a sought after FA a couple years ago and got a big deal out of the Phillies that ended up being a total bust as he was injured immediately and never recovered.
    • The Yankees declined their options for J.A. Happ and Brett Gardner. Gardner had his usual decent season, but has lost a step which was a key part to his game. Happ had a solid season, but got absolutely shelled in their series against the Rays.
    • As mentioned above, the Rays decline Charlie Morton's option as well as catcher's Mike Zunino and Michael Perez.

    Looking at the 2021 FA's:
    • Turner is arguably the best 3B on the market, but also one of the oldest. While I could easily see the two working out a team friendly deal, all it takes is one team out there hunting for a 3B to make him a deal the Dodgers won't be willing to compete with.
    • Kiké is in a 2B class that looks to have some other big names. He is probably still in the top-5 available 2B, but that might not be enough to get a decent contract. While still not likely, I'm starting to think there's at least a chance we see Kiké in blue again next year.
    • Joc is one of a few OFers under 30 hitting free agency. His defense isn't elite, but he also isn't a liability in the field. Of the Dodger free agents, he's probably lined up the best to get a solid, multi-year deal from another team.
    • Baez and Treinen, at least on paper, are two of the better FA relievers on the market. However, if teams decide to be cheap this offseason, relief pitching is probably the first place to receive cuts.
    • Wood and McGee are absolutely buried in the FA pitching market. I've heard a lot of people say they think Wood will get a contract to start for someone, but just looking at the amount of players out there, I'm extremely skeptical. McGee is probably looking at a 1-year league minimum deal in a down market, and hopefully the Dodgers jump on that.

some al team will probably sign turner to play 3b/dh
idk on kike, doubt we go after him too hard (homo) if there's competition
if there was a way to sign joc solely for the post... but i'd guess he's gone, probably to the al
baez and treinen, guess we have to weigh if it's cheaper to re-sign them or replace them... probably the latter
    wood, semi-meh
    mcgee, complete meh
