I hear nothing but good things about Breaking Bad. Is it something to look into?

It's one of the better shows on TV. If a show about cooking meth interests you, then this is the show for you. Plus the lead actor, Bryan Cranston, is a Dodger fan.

Irish, do you watch Breaking Bad?

Here is a quote from Bryan Cranston:

I grew up with Dodger Stadium. It was my home, and I knew certain things, even when times were rough or things not going well in school or my parents splitting up or whatever the case may be. I could always depend on the smell of the grass, listening to Vin Scully's voice to bring back a sense of calm and safety. And it was that to me. It represented something, a touchstone, that was always there that I could always go to in times of trouble, and it was there for me.

    -- Bryan Cranston

I can say, without hyperbole, Breaking Bad is the best drama on TV.

    i'm truly torn on this
on one hand i'm a bit of a purist and want the game to stay the same
but then i have to factor in that mlb has the longest season of all the major sports by far,
and the lowest percentage of teams making the postseason
seems a bit harsh to play 162 games, win 95+, and miss out by a game or two
remember 1993 when piazza singlehandedly knocked the giants out of the postseason on the season's final day?
that sf team won 103 and lost out to a braves team that won 104
the then expos won 94 and also missed out
granted, that was when there was still only west and east divisions and, under the current wild-card system, both teams would have made it to the playoffs
    idk, i'm still torn
    8 teams to 10 teams?
meh, wake me up when bud expands it to 20
then we might actually have a chance to get in

I'm for the expansion. Not because I want to see more teams make the playoffs. I like it because it weakens the Wild Card teams and makes it more important to win your division.

AP sources: No deadline for deal on MLB playoffs
By RONALD BLUM, AP Sports Writer 2 hours, 12 minutes ago

NEW YORK (AP)—Negotiators for baseball players and owners say there is no set deadline for an agreement to expand the playoffs to 10 teams this season.

The sides have said for weeks a deal is likely. When players and owners signed their agreement for a new labor contract in November, the section covering the postseason established a March 1 goal for deciding whether the playoffs would increase by two teams for 2012 or 2013.

But in recent days both sides said negotiations would continue beyond Thursday if they needed time. The sides spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because the talks have not been public.

The deal would establish a new one-game, wild-card round in each league between the teams with the best records who are not division winners, meaning a third-place team could win the World Series.

Creating it for 2012 has been complicated because the regular-season schedule was drafted last spring and summer, and the extra game has to be put in place in a manner that doesn’t disrupt the World Series schedule. Further complicating scheduling, the sides reached a consensus that ties for division titles would be broken on the field with a tiebreaker game under the new playoff format, and not by head-to-head record.

Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig said Jan. 27 the expansion for this season was on track.

“I really believe we’ll have the wild card for 2012, this year,” he said. “Clubs really want it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an issue that the clubs want more than to have the extra wild card this year.”

“We’re working on dates right now. That’ll all take place. It looks to me like we’ll have it because I’ve told everybody we have to have it. It’ll be exciting. One-game playoff, it will start the playoffs in a very exciting manner,” he added.

According to the memorandum of agreement, the commissioner’s office was to give the players’ association a modified postseason schedule by Feb. 1.

“The association shall have 30 days after receiving the modified 2012 postseason schedule from the office of the commissioner to determine whether it will grant its consent,” the agreement states. “Such consent shall not be unreasonably withheld.”

Head-to-head record has been used since 1995 to determine first place if both teams are going to the postseason. But the sides decided with the start of a one-game, winner-take-all wild-card round, the difference between first place and a wild-card berth is too important to decide with a formula and a tiebreaker game would be played.

As part of the labor deal, the Houston Astros will switch to the American League for 2013, creating two 15-team leagues with three divisions each. Players wanted to change to equalize the chances for making the playoffs for every division.

Eight of 30 baseball teams have made the playoffs under the format that began in 1995, a year later than intended because of a strike that wiped out the postseason in `94. The postseason included just the league winners from 1903-68, then increased to four teams in 1969.

In the NFL, 12 of 32 teams make the playoffs. In both the NBA and NHL, 16 of 30 teams advance to the postseason.

I'm good with the playoff expansion. I see it as levelling the playing field a little bit against the big money teams.

And this opinion coming from someone who hates the DH, inter-league play and artificial turf. Yeah, the American League should go back to playing real baseball - not this pussy game they play now. DH my ass. Grow some balls and go out there and play in the field. If you're too old to play the field, then retire. Go play softball. In fact, all of the Major Leagues should give up the batting helmet. Stand in that box and take it like a man. I want to see steel spikes. Torn jerseys. Blood. Let's see some Ty Cobb stuff out there - punching out fans in the ballpark if they are out of line. And there's nothing wrong with smoking cigars in the dugout, either. Shit, this ain't baseball nowadays at all.

The bad part about this is that it can possibly make the trade deadline boring and unactive

I like punishing the WC but there will still be injustice. A one game playoff could be between and 88 win team and a 96 win team. The 96 win WC team doesn't deserve to have the same chances a division winner gets but the 88 doesn't deserve to be there at all.

The way I would have the playoffs...(and this is throwing out travel concerns)
No divisions, top 4 records from each league.
