i remember watching my daughter and her friends throwing away their "trophies" the moment they were handed to them. they had won a park championship and the ceremony that followed the next day treated all teams equal and gave them all the exact same trophy. really diminishes the fact that these kids had worked their tails off to be the best. there will be no record of the fact that any team competing were better than another. self esteem was replaced by nothing.
I'm not in favor of the extra Wildcard teams at all. It is just so lame to me, I don't know where to start. I think the setup we have now is perfect although i'd like to see the 1st round a 7 game series.
This is actually the only thing I don't want. I ca understand wanting the wild card teams to play a 7 game series (since anything can basically happen in a 5 game series), but the playoffs are already too long. 5-7-7 works perfect for me so we don't head into November for the World Series.
The wild card round should be a best of 3 The Division series best of 7 LCS best of 7 WS best of 7 Start the season a little earlier. And get rid of the "Can't play a division team in the first round" BS
Shorten the regular season to 120 games, top 2 in each division make the postseason. EVERY series is best of seven
How much closer til we get to the NBA which has the worst structure of all structures in the history of structures for a season?
You guys are referring to the new wild card ONE GAME PLAYOFF? It's just too insane! http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-1118-baseball-realignment-20111118,0,242588.story
The new 1 game things fucking blows. I am in favor of 5 teams making it in both leagues, but this format fucking blows. Let's say you play 162 games, make it easily as the better WC and then have ONE off game and you get eliminated?!?! Fuck that!
cut the season to 150 games. 3 games for the wildcard, 7 in the division, 7 in the championship series, 7 in the World Series. that 1 game shit is the stupidest thing ever
Agreed. What if the Braves won 97 games, and finished 2nd in the East. Then the Giants win 86 games and finish 2nd in the West (this is an imaginary extreme scenario...lets assume the central sucked hard) and the Braves have to play a one game playoff against that shitty team? I like the idea of the WC not being equal to division winners, but not like this.
Maybe begin ST in Jan/Feb - and start the season in March? Of course, you might need an orange baseball to play in the snow in some northern cities...
^ ah, fuck it... combine all the NL and AL teams into one giant clusterfuck division, 162 games, no playoffs, winner takes all!
Shorten the season. 154 or 148 is a good fit. but seriously, i'm not that big of a fan of interleague everyday. hell, i'd probably add teams just to keep the AL and the NL away from each other until the World Series and All-Star Game. Or take away teams.
