Kershaw, Buehler, Ryu, Hill is what I think the rotation will be like. Ryu at home has been very hot putting him on the road may not be the best. The Brewers have won 11 straight so I have a hard time believing they'll go 13 in a row so a split on the road is very possible.
agreed floro was about the closest thing to [a healthy] morrow we had nasty pitches with a lot of late movement
perspective... The Dodgers are playing for the NL pennant a third consecutive year, while it’s just the the Brewers’ third LCS appearance in franchise history (49 years). courtesy dodgerblue.com
I saw Rich Hill’s post game interview with ESPN after game 4 of the Braves series. It’s pretty clear he has fought, clawed, scratched, and died to revive his career. He got emotional, and so did I after hearing it. If anything, I hope the Dodgers understand that it isn’t just about CK getting a ring or MM getting a ring. It’s about the Rich Hills, JTs, Max Muncy’s on the team as well I hope this team looks at them and realize that you have to play smart, from pitching to hitting to fielding to running the bases and everything in between, because you NEVER know if this is your last shot in a career. Many a great player have not won a WS. Let’s not be that team that doesn’t give these guys the glory.
Looks like most people are with the Brewers...they are the Cinderella darlings of the CS, and their invincible BP will reign supreme...and Christian Yelich, if we are stupid enough to pitch to him (we definitely will), is a one man wrecking crew and has, at least, owned Kershaw. And he can beat us by himself. We shall see.
Game 1: Fri, 5:09 pm PT (FS1) Game 2: Sat, 1:09pm (Fox) Game 3: Mon, 4:39pm (FS1) Game 4: Tue, 6:09pm (FS1) Game 5: Wed, 2:05pm (FS1) Game 6: Fri, 5:39pm (FS1) Game 7: Sat, 6:09pm (FS1) Game 2 I'm fine with the day game since it's a Saturday and baseball was intended to be played in the sunlight (even though they'll have the roof closed probably). Game 3 is what I don't understand. There's no ALCS game to compete with. Why not start at 5:39 local time? Game 5 2 PM start is just a joke. Having a team potentially win the pennant when so many people cannot watch? MLB is also stupid for having 6 of the 7 games on cable-only. They really just want to take the upfront money and not grow the sport. How games 5 - 7 should be on regular Fox.
Like I said in the last sentence, MLB is going to sell the TV rights to the highest bidder. It's understandable but short-sighted. Regular Fox is available in millions more households and sometimes exposure is more valuable than the upfront dough. Baseball is becoming niche with the way they distribute it.
This just in from Vegas.... .... and they're probably shitting bricks thinking about pitching to Muncy, Machado, Pederson, Turner, Freese, Taylor and Puig...... Who knows, maybe even Bellinger?
The Brewers won 96 games, have the league MVP in their lineup and have deployed their pitching staff in a way that has worked all season. They have won 11 in a row. We may be deeper, more talented, etc etc...but being let down so many times by the Dodgers...I really don't feel like the favorites in this series. Many talking heads think our talent and depth will prevail over the Brewers but idk.
7 games and 6 different start times. Good luck remembering them. And game 3 on the West Coast with an earlier start time than games 1 and 6 in the Midwest. Speaking of games 1 and 6, both are on primetime on a Friday in Milwaukee... different start times.
Just remembered we will be enduring a 7 game series (worst case) with Joe Buck and John Smoltz. Sheeeeiiiit. I thought Joe Davis did a really good job hiding his bias on the Fox telecasts. He is going to have a great career. I just wish someone would tell him not to hold the final syllable of his sentences for so long every damn time he speaks. His generic, rhythmic "announcers" voice needs to evolve and improve for me to be fully on board. He's too precise. However, he is capable of making memorable calls ("Absolute Madness" comes to mind) so I know he will evolve into a great broadcaster. As far as color analysts (racist) go...Orel is pretty bad on our local telecasts, but at least he LOVES THE GAME. I cant say that about a lot of the guys who are working on a national level in the booth. Smoltz clearly hates the way baseball is played nowadays and is just a grumpy old man. Ron Darling is the same way. They need to start removing these guys from the booth if they want the sport to grow. I'm tired of guys blaming analytics for everything and complaining about anything and everything on the air. And while I love the statistical element and would like to see it implemented better, it's not 100 percent necessary to keep me engaged as long as the guys on screen love the game and aren't morons. David Ortiz, Frank Thomas and A-Rod with Burkhardt moderating is great because they're fun. Maybe not as stat driven as I like, but competent. Dontrelle Willis and Nick Swisher on the other hand, are morons. So you have to be fun and competent. They do an ad campaign about making baseball fun, yet Joe Buck will be calling a boring play by play with grumpy analysts like Jon Smoltz blabbering on about stupid shit. Oh, and I miss Vin. Bring back the one man booth! I miss having our announcer talk to us instead of the guy next to him.
I don’t mind Buck honestly. There’s been times when he’s had great calls like the Boston wining game four or St. Louis keeping bf themselves alive for game six. He’s a bit boring but is perfectly serviceable as an announcer. But I agree on Smoltz. HoF pitcher but god awful announcer. Stop complaining about how the game is played and call the game!
