Bumgarner has struggled in general lately. In his last 8 starts he has a 3.71 ERA and the giants are 2-6. After his last start vs the Mets everyone in the media was sucking his cock over hitting a HR, overshadowing the fact that he really hasn't pitched well of late. The Giants are in a major slide, and he's very much part of that.

That said, it was great to see our offense put up runs against a lefty, especially a struggling Bumgarner.

The giants have their backs against the wall and are nearly in a "must win" situation tonight. It feels good.

The key for tonight is for Hill to keep the game competitive to start, and for the Dodgers to get Cueto out of there as early as possible. Make it a game of bullpens and I feel confident.

But, Cueto could easily shut us down over 7+ innings and Hill could have some rust.

Let's hope the offense can keep it going

Just saw that we miss Arrieta and Hendricks for the Cubs this weekend. That Friday game will be big against Montgomery.

"The Giants lose again, this time to the Dodgers"
    Chris Russo

    Seriously? The Dodgers didn't win?

"Corey Seager has done a nice job, actually a very nice job at shortstop...he's probably the rookie of the year with Story out of the picture in Colorado.."
    Chris Russo

How does that do Corey Seager justice? This kid is better than Derek Jeter you asshat. And that's all you have to say about Seager? What he's doing is incredible. He has everything you can dream up in a baseball player. All the way down to the demeanor you hacks love to talk so much about.

It's such a shame how Corey is taken for granted by some people. If he was on the Yankees they'd be having HOF debates already.

And lol at Trevor Story being mentioned in the same breath as Seager.

I'm almost ok with the Seager apathy. Everyone jumped on the Puig bandwagon right away and it didn't help us any. Let's try this way.

How is High Heat a real show? Just watched it for pretty much through first time. Garbage. "Trout should get zero consideration for MVP! His team is 20 games under .500!" My goodness

If you cut SVS or Fien i doubt they will be signed.
Dodgers could probably resign them to minor league deals.

Yeah it's been an adjustment as a fan and obviously more so for the players, to get use to the bottom part of the roster constantly changing, but it seems to be a pretty good way to win ball games over a long season. Depth doesn't matter if you don't know how to use it, and they've found ways to maximize the roster whenever possible. Can't even say the players don't like it cause I'm sure the AAAA love the idea of always being on call to go up and then having to put up or shut up or else you get sent down

Right, but we essentially would need at least four 40 man spots if they were to call up JDL, since Kershaw, Wood and Ethier will eventually need one. And that's not even considering that maybe they're looking on the waiver wire for something to add to the team (a fringy reliever or right handed bench bat)

And honestly, I think they really should just find a way for De Leon if he's good enough. I just think the front office has for some reason shown that they dont think he's been worth it up to this point to maneuver and risk losing players for and at this point it might be too late in the season where they had to place others on the 40 man and are stuck (like: Brock). Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong, idk, im not a scout.

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but no local blackout on ESPN tonight.

    Eric Stephen ‏@truebluela Aug 23
Wednesday's Dodgers-Giants game will be televised nationally on ESPN, and that broadcast will NOT be blacked out in LA

I'd hate that to be the reason

I'd prefer that we acknowledge overall Dodger talent depth. And the regular guys are FINALLY hitting like they were supposed to all along
    Nice to see Seager at .324/ .379/ .923 but his last 30 Days = .392/ .441/ Gonzo at .301 again and clutch too /.369/ .828/ 1.059!!
Turner hitting .279/ .344/.858 but his last 30 days are better at .307/ .330/ .932!!
Kendrick hitting .273 (finally) /.334/.738 and his last 30 days are identical
Joc at .249/.346/.835 isn't great but the latter are serviceable #'s and his last 30 days = .297/ .411/ 1.019!!
and even Grandal's shitty .230 BA looks better in recent light at .293/ .384/1.064!! (about time)

For the new crop it's nice to see Toles at .354/ .418/ .981.. very nice indeed and his last 30 days .381/ .440/ 1.202!!
but I'm disappointed by Trayce's fade to .225/.302/ .738 as I thought he had more promise\
though Segedin still appears fair at .286/ .325/ .811 for his last 30 days

Overall it only makes us look better to get back Puig when he's hitting .396/ .448/ 1.146... Pretty please Puig grow up already

I think that SVS is riding pine until being sent back to OKC

just hope that doesn't apply to Trayce too

and Reddick?? Really did we get taken advantage of that badly?? .149 and zero RBI's since the trade?!?!

Look at his numbers and SVS has not been good since May 15 of 2015. He has been a mess at the plate since and his power is gone. He has 5 HR's over his last 300+ plate appearances and is OPS'ing around 600. Segedin is showing more pop, better plate discipline, plays more positions and has options. I think SVS is dead weight and is probably next in line to go when either Ethier or Trayce comeback. Next I think Fien is an easy option as well. He was great after the initial acquisition, but has not done much since a fantastic burst. Carlos Frias has been on the DL since July 3rd, so he could be a 60 Day candidate. Then there are guys like Coleman who has been meh for a while(DFA), Ravin who could be out for the rest of the season(DFA/60Day), Charlie Culberson (Meh, DFA), Micah Johnson(been really bad at AAA this year, DFA) and the one some want and others hate, they have a week to trade Puig or someone else for that matter. For the 4 guys that COULD potentially come back Kershaw, Ethier, Wood and Thompson, there are options.
