Dont think a team exists that would acquire Gwynn to be a full time starter

^It sounds like the Mets almost went there before they got Torres. But in any case, he would be good trade bait.

How much did Saito sign for?

Really would've liked him to be a Dodger.

Ummm not sure where you come up with $107M without Loney and Ethier. According to that link, we are at $114M including very accurate projections of arbitration eligible players' salaries. If you then deduct deferred salaries and buyouts ($22M total) then he number drops to $92M.

    $92M = The LA Royals

Deferred salaries are still money that needs to be paid out of your revenue which in our case is bankruptcy court challenged.

Note the 107 million is for as noted 2013 not 2012. And as of now the 2013 payroll has nothing for Ethier and Loney as they are not under contract for then. So yes as I wrote about 2013 107 million without Eithier or Loney. So the new owner has a base salary for 2013 of 107 milliion without our 2012 projected right fielder and first baseman.

Sellers makes 485 K next year and where is Sands on the 25 man roster? Will Sellers be traded or will he be on the Major league roster or in the minors. Sands is still cheap but where does he fit in?

Why are we after Murphy of the Mets and for what possible positions and to replace who on the roster? Has that been discussed by the press or anyone?

    http://www.mlbdepthcharts.com/2011/09/los-angeles-dodgers-2011-12-offseason.html

Above is the projected roster. Why did/do we want Murphy and was it Sands being blocked for 2012 and consider how many are under two year contracts and signed for 2013. Perhaps had we gotten Murphy, Gwynn would not have been tendered. So is the Murphy deal now not a possibility? What is the additional tuning Ned has alluded to about?

Don't forget that Ned always likes to have the all important DL slot on the team filled.

The difference between Uribe and Murphy is astronomical compared to the difference between Sands and Gwynn/Rivera. If we can get Murphy I'd happily send Sands down to AAA.

Truly baffled how this got by Ned... :dizzy:

    Marlins Sign Aaron Rowand
    By Ben Nicholson-Smith [December 12, 2011 at 4:57pm CST]

The Marlins signed Aaron Rowand to a minor league deal, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter). The Giants, who cut Rowand in August, are paying him $12MM less the MLB minimum salary in 2012, the final season of the five-year, $60MM deal he signed with San Francisco in 2007.

Rowand hit .233/.274/.347 in 351 plate appearances for the Giants this past season, playing all three outfield positions. The 34-year-old was last a useful player in 2009, according to FanGraphs' version of wins above replacement. The White Sox, Rowand's first MLB team, showed some interest in him this offseason.

Rowand is easily a quality Marlin substitute instead of Pujols. Right?
As snicker producing as this for the Giants, and haha, etc., it pales beneath the LAD paying still and well into the clouded future for useless players.
I hear Queen and the excellent finook voice of Freddie Mercury: "We are the champions"!

My bad, didn't read it well, thought you meant 2012.

However, I don't give a fuck about deferred salaries, it may be a part of expenditures, but payroll to me means how much the players on the field are getting paid. Hell, even the POS Ned says our payroll this year is $90.
