You can drive yourself crazy thinking like that, don't forget, from 04-08 they selected 5 pitchers, 4 HS with their 1st pick (Elbert, Hochevar, Kershaw, Withrow, E. Martin). So it's far from a sure thing that they would have taken him.

that's actually quite interesting, and possibly telling a lot of pressure being the one elite young prospect on the team -- especially the pressure he likely put on himself having someone like seager [another top prospect, and someone he's familiar with] up surely takes a lot of that away also gives him someone to eat and hangout with that (a) isn't way older, (b) doesn't have to go be with their wife and kids, or (c) speaks english [racist] all the coaching, extra bp, relaxation/meditation, whatever in the world can be worthless if you're not comfortable wouldn't be surprised if it continued... :fingerscrossed:
