I hope this doesn't get ugly especially with Linceum asking for 20 million or is it 21 million. Ned please don't screw this up.

Offering Kershaw only $6.5 million dollars disgusts me.
The new owner cannot get here soon enough.
I hope when the new owner is announced the first thing he says is Ned Colletti is fired and that he can rot in hell (Giants Organization).
Ned Colletti doesn't even think Kershaw is as good as Uribe.
    Fucking scum.

Lincecum's request has nothing to do with this. In arbitration the judge picks between the two sides, the Dodgers were just hoping that Kershaw's request would be something ridiculous like 18M for a first time arbitration player, and it isnt, so hell get the 10M. I cant imagine it's healthy to become completely enraged at everything our front office does.

Jesus Christ, Ned. This guy was literally one of the only two bright spots you had last year, give him his fucking money.

The previous record for a team offer in a first time arbitration case was 4.35M...David Price settled for that today...If you think this is insulting you dnt understand arbitration

I was going to say exactly what bcransom just said, you don't just give him 10 million, that's not how this process works.

Thats why I mentioned Tim L. He is shooting at upping the upper end of the range which would also make it easier for Kershaw to raise the first year ceiling. The negotiators will try to establish a ratio of first year max to last year max and anything that bumps it along the way helps Kershaw. If Tim ups the previous high of what was it 15 million by 5-6 million that creates momentum for Clayton to get more as a first year record who should eventually break the last year record with continued exceptional performance. Doesn't Tim still have a year of team control after 2012? Wow! Hamels at 15 million and would have become a free agent in November. Tim 17-21.5 million with another year after 2012 and Kershaw just starting out. The longer Ned waits to to try to do a multi year the more expensive it will become. Do folks think Clayton will ever give a Jared Weaver like hometown discount.

every team gives what fans think are bad offers in terms of the FA deals other lesser players sign for

this just looks bad because of recent history with mccourt and ned
    dont sweat it

    bcransom and VRP nailed it

I am starting to have some real questions about the whole process of team control and teams being able to pay what they want before arbitration. Part of the thinking was the amount of time and money the teams spent in player development. You are now getting more and more stud players who are coming out of college and being in the majors in a couple of years and top players coming out of high school and being in the majors in 3 years. Look at Kershaw and Tim L how much money was spent on them in the minors and Kershaw was a top player and off the chart last year at the age of 23 and for 500K in salary. This is why Boras says he is Boras and does what he does for the players he represents.

That makes sense, but another pary of arbitration that doesn't make sense to me is why these players are always due raises during the process. Why does Ethier deserve a higher salary than he had last year when his performance was down?

Mostly cause if you think he is deserving of less, you always have the option of non-tendering him. Of course, if someone else sees his value as higher than you're screwed, but if the market sees it as higher than what yo have to pay, then pay it up.
