And if I were LeBron and I were leaning towards joining LAL, I'd be cool with Wade going to LAL a year early so he could mentor Zo and the other youngsters, make sure the ball is rolling in the right direction. Make sure they're ready to roll and compete at the necessary level come the '18/'19 season. Zo/Wade/KCP/Ingram/Kuzma/Julius/Nance/Lopez/Zu..9 man rotation, perhaps throw in Ennis as the 10th most nights, they fight for the 8th seed IMO if Ingram, Julius and Lopez hold up their end and they all stay relatively healthy. Wade's not a perfect fit for Luke's system, but neither is Shaun Livingston with GSW. There are some wrinkles within the system that can be drawn up to take advantage of 1 guy's niche. That said, if Wade is bought out and hits the open market CLE is supposedly the favorite to get him, another reason why LAL was probably looking to trade for him and still could be. Also, Wade and Paul George do indeed have a bromance that goes back years http://www.indystar.com/story/sport...eorge-you-wish-your-game-smooth-his/99010744/ Not really a shocker, most stars in the league fuck with Wade, as did Kobe who famously doesn't fuck with many. Wade and George have been working out together in Malibu recently..
Adrian Wojnarowski ESPN, The National Basketball Association is aggressively pursuing draft lottery reform that could be voted into legislation before the start of the 2017-18 season, league sources told ESPN. Commissioner Adam Silver is a strong advocate to de-incentivize tanking by implementing lower odds on the NBA's worst teams to gain the top picks in the draft, league sources said. Oooshit, no more tanking? From " trust the process " to fuck the process Lol What are the Sixers going to do?
I agree with this reform. In fact I'd like to see everyone that doesn't make the playoffs have an equal chance to get the #1 pick, i.e, an unweighted lottery. But it's not going to go well. Some western conference team is going to just miss the playoffs with 45 wins and get the #1 pick and piss off all the other crappy teams. Or worse yet, the Lakers will be pretty good this year and just miss the playoffs, win the lottery. and give the #1 pick to boston. At that point I might drive a fertilizer truck into the NBA corporate offices.
I once had an idea that the worse team at the end of the year get "regulated" like in soccer, but only in terms of their lottery pick. In other words, they are "regulated" from the lottery and are either prevented from entering the lottery or are given the worst odds. That way, no team can intentionally race to the bottom. There has to be some competition between the bottom dwellers.
I think thats a great idea. The lottery is for all the sucky teams, except the one that sucks most. We should reward those who suck because if we dont reward them they will never learn what it is to feel reward. But those who strive to suck on purpose because they love the handout... those do not get a reward. They get to suck it. A relegation system that dealt only with draft position would be great. Would be better if teams that got relegated allowed all of their players to suddenly gain player options in their contracts essentially making them unrestricted FA. And the penalties can only be for one year. The next year another team is relegated and your team gets to come back. Maybe. As long as they make the playoffs in the G league.
Could force teams to be more aggressive/creative with their personnel decisions as well..maybe start overpaying even more than they already are for some guys and taking leaps of faith. Young guys like Julius Randle could benefit. Scouting could be even more important than it is now. A lot of trickle down effects. Doubt it all stops CLE from winning the lotto for the 50th time once LeBron leaves, but yeah
Talking clearly about the Lakers here aren't you? Because "I" am. Still personally not thrilled to watch such an esteemed franchise tank on purpose. Glad we got two #2 picks out of tanking but... we've already pissed awway one of those #2's so change the rules already
Basically we're on the same page. Teams intentionally losing shouldn't be rewarded but punished. And if a team is truly that bad, the FO better get their asses moving in the off season.
They're talking about having a rule we're a team can't pick in the top three two years in a row no matter what their record is. I think that's a really great idea
There should be multiple rules to safeguard the lottery but more importantly the integrity of the game in the minds of the fans.
Yeah I have friends in other cities who are in full lather spewing about favoritism forthe Lakers getting to obviously tank to earn yet another great draft choice. Data provides me with little defense shy of saying "fuck you losers" when they were likely correct. I HATE seeing the Lakers anywhere but leading the game. Come one Jeanie and Magic lets get this ship up to hull speed already
