Per Jon Heyman of CBS Sports...
    • The Braves have had “serious talks” about dealing closer Jason Grilli to a contender, Heyman writes, with the Blue Jays and Dodgers among the teams that make the most sense.
    • The Marlins could trade starter Dan Haren for the right return. On paper, the Dodgers would seem to make sense, but that seems unlikely, since the Dodgers treated Haren basically as a throw-in in the Dee Gordon trade in the offseason. The Dodgers would also prefer to find a starter they could use in the playoffs, and Haren likely doesn’t qualify.
    • Dodgers shortstop Jimmy Rollins could become available in a trade as top prospect Corey Seager continues to demonstrate he’s ready for the big leagues.

Funny how the 2 guys who were gipped out of an all-star berth had a great week. Kershaw of course the other night and Brian Dozier who has the biggest snub hits a walk-off. Good for him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait a sec...Amaro has no promise of a future gig, while the homeless man almost assuredly will remain homeless, thus solidifying his future status. So wouldn't it be "I would put a homeless man's future gig up against Amaro's?

No break for rising star Olivera
Cuban sensation continues hamstring rehab in advance of potential Dodgers callup
    by Steve Bourbon | MLB.com — 90 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES -- While the Dodgers start a four-day break for the All-Star Game presented by T-Mobile on Monday, Hector Olivera will stay busy.

The 30-year-old Cuban will be rehabbing from a strained hamstring, injured in a game on June 20, which has slowed his path to the Majors.

"He'll be playing and getting ready. The main thing with him is getting back playing," manager Don Mattingly said.

Olivera returned to game action on Tuesday for the Dodgers Rookie level team in the Arizona League. In four games with the AZL Dodgers, Olivera is 4-for-12 with two walks; Olivera was used as a designated hitter in his first game back but has started at third base in the following three games.

He will eventually return to Triple-A Oklahoma City, once the team returns from its own All-Star break on Thursday. Before the injury, Olivera was hitting .358 in 13 games between Double-A Tulsa and Oklahoma City while playing both second and third base.

Olivera signed a six-year, $62.5 million contract in May, and Mattingly believes he is a player who can help the Dodgers in the Majors in the second half.

"We haven't really had the chance to see him play live but everything you hear is good. We didn't sign him to be a Triple-A guy, I think we signed him to be a big league guy," Mattingly said. "He has a chance to be a part of what we're doing for sure."

Should have dealt Grilli when they had the chance.

Buster Olney says the Dodgers are the favorites for Cueto. I dunno if that means anything though.

I'm all for Cueto if it means no Urias in the deal. Urias is talked about too lightly by some and the fact is, this kid could be in the rotation opening day next year where there is 1 pitcher that is healthy and signed for next season currently on the roster. Just cause we have all the money, doesn't mean we are going to spend idiotically to retain a Greinke/Anderson/traded for ace. De Leon and Urias are what look to be two huge needed pieces in our rotation that are closest to being ready. I kind of hate this whole no QO thing after a trade. With the 2 team wildcard and no QO, it's making teams extremely reluctant to make deadline deals.

You've definitely seen more deadline deals for big name pitchers than you've seen draft picks given up by the Dodgers in order to sign these players with QO's in free agency.

I'm a bit nervous and excited for this trade deadline.

Considering the who/what/where aspect of it all, I guess this is wrong...but I am elated over Pablo Sandoval. Something cosmically symmetric about that being signing going so far, in the toilet bowl.
Then again, the Giants look smart again for low balling him...so now I don't know...
    Fuck.

And in an outfield that Manny Ramirez could handle, no less.
