Harper makes perfect sense. More HR hitters mean more worthless RBI's to outscore Boston when they fix the baseballs again in the post.

That Harper rumor is pure BS for so many reasons. Fun to think about, but total BS. One, the team already has a full OF. Two, he’d be like the 5th best player we put out there this season. Three, the Nats would want a silly-huge package for a guy having a major down year. Four, the Dodgers would decimate their thinning farm even more to make a deal like that work. Five, if the Nats sell, they want to get money off the books, which the Dodgers can’t take on.
As I said, it’s fun to think about, but it ain’t happening.

mlb network analyst is a contradiction in terms
hamels could end up being a good deal, but a little premature to be calling it a win
i think it's a good investment for the cubs...
if he makes a couple of solid starts down the stretch, it was (probably) worth it
if not, i think the cubs are out $5 mil

Don’t even want him in the offseason. $400 million for a him and I honestly don’t feel like he deserves it.

Granted, in the immortal words of Clint Eastwood, “Deserves got nothing to do with it.”

Shoutout to the homegirl, Snoop, too.

Harper is consistently good but inconsistently spectacular. Because of the price tag, I'd say that makes him more high risk than low risk. Factoring in injuries as well...

No way I'd give him 300M let alone 400M.

I'd only sign him to a deal that ends or has a mutual option after 3 seasons.

I know it sounds crazy... Because Archer is a young pitcher on a team friendly deal... But I'm not sure I want that guy. His basic run prevention always seems underwhelming to me. I haven't looked up his RA9 WAR or any stats on him this season, but just from what I've casully gathered over the years. Contract aside I think he's overrated.

We have the best starters ERA in the league. The only way I trade good prospects for a starter is if it's a world-class CY Young candidate. DeGrom.

It’s not crazy to say, he’s been pretty average. What’s great about him is that he throws 200+ innings, which would be nice for 2019-2020 but for this year, we need elite arms.

Archer strikes out plenty of people but like you said, he’s not good at run prevention. There’s enough there where I wouldn’t be surprised that he turns it around once he leaves Tampa but it’s a risk for sure. Another starter could push a starter to the bullpen (Stripling if he’s tiring, Wood, Buehler...). But again, a risk. I could also see them trying for Archer plus a reliever, especially if the reliever costs are low and the relievers available are underwhelming (which they are).

Idk, a big part of me thinks the Rays are using the Dodgers for leverage haha

    great analysis doyer
i've always thought archer was mediocre and overrated
being the ace of the rays is akin to being the hottest chick in a leper colony
imo he's no better than a #2 or #3 almost anywhere else
very well could end up being like the forsythe of starting pitchers...
good on a shit team, shit on a good team
