    • Los Angeles Angels center fielder Mike Trout, Milwaukee Brewers All-Star Christian Yelich and Washington Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon were named finalists for Player of the Year in 2019 Players Choice Awards voting. Noticeably absent from that list is Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star Cody Bellinger. The award voted on by the players themselves.

and the reason we can all forget about getting cole, strasburg, rendon, or anyone else...
    • The Dodgers broke a franchise record for Dodger Stadium attendance this season. In 81 games — 28 of which were sellouts — the club drew 3,974,309 fans (49,066 average) to the ballpark.

Sad part is the fans will continue to show up, whether or not the team signs anyone. I despise Roberts and want him fired, but the problem lies a lot deeper.

    it absolutely does
all walter cares about is lining his pockets
kasten is a disingenuous ckunt that speaks out of both sides of his mouth
and friedman is the perfect soldier, having cut his teeth with the budget conscious rays

that said, roberts is 100% culpable for how the team has failed each of the past three seasons
a mindless buffoon who has choked every time it's truly mattered
he, by himself, has made inexplicable decisions that cost the team a world championship in 2017 and a third consecutive ws appearance this year
    nah man, fuck him

One of the advantages of living in the Bay Area is not having to go to Dodger Stadium and give the Guggs any more money.

I blame him in 18 as well
no way Hill should have come out of that game and after the amazing 18 inning game we were feeling the momentum
the sox didn't have some invincible team but davey came through for them seizing defeat from the jaws of victory

    It is all on Dave.
    BTW... firedave.com is available.
I would consider forever ditching our domain name if switching to firedave actually got him fired within the year.

Hendrick over Kershaw would probably have been better for this team too.
Just bring back all the black/latin players who have huevos enough for playing well when it counts.

Disagree somewhat. Players are the reason we lost in 2017 (Jansen, Bellinger, Seager, etc). 20-8 the Red Sox were just way better, it was their year. Nothing Roberts could have or could not have done about it. 2019 Roberts fucked up

    roberts decisions...

2017: started darvish and then left him out there too long
2018: inexplicably started all righties and sat his top 4 hr hitters the first two games
    2019: kershaw

these were all his decisions and they all cost the team chances at championships

You're both right. In 2018 the Sox were way better, plain and simple. But sitting your top 4 HR hitters in the World Series is just stupid. Roberts manages one way in the regular season and then completely changes in the postseason. I hate him so much.

Who cares who is better when it comes to winning.
It's about who executes when it matters.
And that is defined by management decisions.
A coach makes a players season statistics improve by teaching him what he knows.
A manager needs to know how to build boys into men and men into champions.
Dave wants to be their denmother.

if you think it was his decision to start Darvish than ok, but it wasn't (also that was the right decision at the time anyways). Darvish pitching wasn't why we only scored 1 run.
2018, Red Sox were still way better, they still won the other 2 of the other 3 games and the only game they lost was an 18 inning 3-2 game. They outplayed us, by a lot. no matter any decision.
And also, if you think it was his decision to sit the top 4 HR hitters in 2018, that wasn't his decision either.

Roberts has the in game decisions, but he has a script for that too. But the decisions on who to start and batting order, you best believe Friedman and co had plenty of input on it

i disagree darvish the right decision when he gave up 4er in 1.2 innings in game 3, but i think you’re right about friedman and i believe he and zaidi made the call for darvish to start game 7

I also blame you for making me think back on that series like a lot. So many memories I had repressed. We should have fucking won. Game 2 and 5 were both so fucking dumb. Fr0m Marwin Gonzalez's cheap ass HR to Cody smashing a ball that didn't go out for no good reason to piece of shit Laz Diaz running into a pick off throw that no one was backing up with Kiké on second base to Gurriel being a racist and MLB suspending him but not for the world series (like that was total bullshit) and him hitting a 3 run HR in Game 5 when he should've been suspended to Bill Miller completely rigging Game 5.

    I can't shake the feeling.

    That was our fucking year.

Fuck the Asstros forever and always. Fucking cocksuckers got every single fucking break that series and still barely won.

The chances that the team moves Muncy are 0.00000%. Turner would go to 1B is the scenario that they gave and the club would move Muncy to 2B for the year. The other talk is that in the event that the club does not get a player like Rendon or Arenado, Muncy is likely to slide over to 3B as his defense at the position is rated significantly better at this point compared to Turner.

Nah, you can't move a kid like Gonsolin into that role just yet. I think teams are starting to figure out the best method of preparing starters for relief roles in the PO's and we are just going to see more of that in the coming years. Gonsolin has the upside of a mid-rotation starter and those are too valuable to give up on early, especially when he has shown mostly success at the big league level. The names to watch for next year are Dennis Santana, Mitch White and Marshall Kasowski.

Santana finally got moved to a pen role late this year as it seems that his injury last season did have significant impact on him this year. He had a 70/80 Sinker that now sounds more like a 60/55 pitch that plays down due to command/control issues creeping up. His curve and slider were morphing into one awful pitch at times and his change took a step back after a significant jump at the end of 17 going into the start of 18. If another year from surgery can help his velo come back a bit and his secondaries play up in relief, he has the stuff to be an elite closer as his slider flashed ++ in years before and the change became a legit above average offering. There were scouts 2 years ago that said he needed to get moved to the pen then and there to be a wrecking machine alongside Kenley. The team elected to keep him as a starter and had the injury not crept up I saw plenty of reviews that had said his secondaries had taken such a dramatic leap forward that he was looking more like a mid-rotation starter or better with how every facet of his game continued to improve.

White is the other one that has the stuff to be legit closer at first glance. He has a larger repertoire than Santana, while also possessing 2 pitches that have landed 70/80 grades in past reports. Injuries and loss of mechanics have had major impacts on his career and it sounds like the club COULD finally be ready to move him into a relief role. He has been used exclusively in a relief role in the AFL and seems to be settling in, including a 3 K inning of work his last time out. He has a third potentially plus pitch and that could make him a very dominant force, especially when on. He will lose his mechanics at times and this has led some to believe that this is why he has struggled with injuries as well. Over the last couple of years, I have seen scouts say that he has the best pure stuff on the Dodgers farm with legit front of the rotation upside. After a dominant start to 2019 in AA, it all fell horribly apart in AAA where he was manhandled, but did still maintain a K rate over 1 per inning. His slider is a 70 grade pitch at times, but it used to be considered an 80 by some scouts. Even Keith Law thought it was one of the best pitches in MILB at the start of 2018. IF going to the pen gets his FB, SL and CB to play up, he would be a very dangerous weapon. Pitching on back to back nights is a question for him as White's velo varies start to start.

Unlike the other two above, Kasowski has one pitch and that pitch is 70 grade fastball that comes over the top like he's throwing an axe. His command/control is shit and the arm angle makes it tough to have good secondaries. He COULD be awesome if he can start to harness those items and gets a passable change/curve combo. He was good in AA and has settled in to have a solid run in the AFL. He is more likely a middle reliever that is not used in high leverage situations since he has a lot of work to do on some other parts of his game, but his FB is soooo good that even some marginal steps could return huge gains.

Other than those 3, I am not sure of really anyone else that is on the cusp. Sborz seems more like a middle reliever to me, Sheffield fell apart at the end of the year and his command is still awful and Victor Gonzalez is a name to watch, but it does not seem like he is all the way there yet. OKC had shit for relievers this year while Tulsa had a number of solid performances that should be interested to see how they look going forward.
