LOS ANGELES -- A report commissioned by the developer of a downtown Los Angeles football stadium warns that a rival project nearby could be a potential terrorist target because of its proximity to Los Angeles International Airport.

The report was released Friday at a time when several potential stadium projects are competing to bring an NFL team to Southern California, two decades after the Rams and Raiders exited.

The 14-page report was commissioned by Anschutz Entertainment Group, which wants to build a stadium in downtown Los Angeles. A development venture linked to St. Louis Ramsowner Stan Kroenke has proposed a stadium in Inglewood, about 10 miles from downtown.

The report by former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge finds that constructing an 80,000-seat stadium in Inglewood -- as close as 2.5 miles from an airport runway -- "materially increases the risk of a terrorist event."

Ridge concluded that in a world in which terrorism is a recognized threat, "the peril of placing a National Football League stadium in the direct flight path of (the airport)" ... outweighs whatever benefits it would bring over its lifespan.

The Hollywood Park Land Co., which is developing the Inglewood site, declined comment.

AEG told the Los Angeles Times, which first reported the study, that "we have been working diligently and in good faith ... to advance NFL discussions while also exploring plans for other development alternatives around the LA Live campus."

According to the Times, the league took no position on the study.

"We feel that the best approach is to look at these things with an independent eye," Eric Grubman, NFL senior vice president and the league's point man in the L.A. market, told the Times. "You should assume the NFL has its own experts hired and at work to assess any potential NFL site, in any city, regarding these matters. And it is that advice that we will rely on."

Aviation experts and city officials have said an Inglewood stadium would not be a safety concern, the Times reported.

The Los Angeles area has become the hottest market for stadiums in the country, although the NFL must approve any plan for relocation, a lengthy and complex process.

The Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers announced last week that they are planning a shared stadium in Carson, also in the Los Angeles suburbs, if both teams fail to get new stadiums in their current hometowns. Another stadium has been proposed in the city of Industry, near Los Angeles.

AEG tryin to throw their weight around.

Russell Westbrook with his 3rd triple double in a row. Ballerific. He's absolutely in his prime right now. Probably would've been there last year without the knee troubles. Looks like he's past that now, though.

Even if Branch were healthy he'd be superfluous with CWood around. Both are box safeties at this point and if my instincts are correct, JDR is gonna build a defense with a strong front 7 so our strong safety doesn't have to have 100+ tackles and stuff like that. It's really the sign of a mediocre to bad defense when the safeties are making all the tackles. With Woodson's ability to cover tight ends and roam the middle jumping routes..he can shine in the kind of defense that has a strong front 7.

Branch was really productive for us, though. I wish him well. One of Al's final combine freaks. He busted out a 4.31 at the combine. Lol Couldn't cover well enough to stay at corner and did OK for a converted safety.

Probably my favorite player in the NBA to watch. He doesn't have an off switch and is always intense as fuck. Love it.

I'm convinced that the Lakers are going to get the 6th overall draft pick and lose it to the damn 6ers.

    Fucking idiots.

It's not even a question for me. Westbrook is the guy. If the Lakers get the 4th or 5th pick, I wouldn't even be mad if they dealt it to OKC for Westbrook. Karl Anthony Towns or Westbrook? I mean I know we have the cap space to sign someone, but Westbrook is still like 2 years away from free agency. That's a long time. And with KD pretty much on his way out, and their season gone to shit, OKC may as well start thinkin about the future. They just weren't able to get it done..possibly because of their own ownership dealing Harden. O'well. But also..I kinda do like Towns. Lol Really skilled for a big man and has the right attitude. Needs to get stronger, though.

OKC won't trade Westbrook unless/until Durant walks and that won't nearly be enough. But maybe a year down the line, KD comes to the Lakers and Randle and our 2015 pick develop enough and maybe package them for Westbrook, it could be a possibility, but a lot would have to go right. Still a red flag on Westbrook, he is putting up all these big point performances, but he is taking 30+ shots to do it, which is concerning, but all the assists and rebounding somewhat make up for it, but he's exploded two games in a row and OKC lost both games.

Just watch... He leaves OKC, it's LA or NY, book it. Put a team together this off season, say Randle, top draft pick, FA like Aldridge or Love or Rondo or Dragic, Kobe retires, all things go right, OKC fails to win a title, Durant will leave, and he'll go to the big market.

Maryland is tattoo'd on Durant's back..the Wizards will be in consideration along with playing with his guy Melo. LA is nothing but a summer home for him.

And really, if OKC is honest with themselves, the time to trade Durant is this summer. Because with a healthy season the Thunder will be too good to trade Durant at the trade deadline, but still not good enough to win the championship and then they'll get nothing for him after next season. They need to deal him this July.

So Durant lives in LA in the off-season? That only further helps our chances. And they might be wise to trade him, but it'll be difficult because his trade value will be through the roof and a lot of teams don't even have enough of the assets necessary to acquire him.

No it doesn't. Melo also has a summer home in LA..KG as well. Neither one picked LA when they had the chance. Many players have summer homes in LA.

You know what's worse than not receiving enough assets in return for Durant? Receiving NONE.

OKC trades Durant than they might as well blow it up. Trade Westbrook, Waiters, Ibaka, etc. They'll want A lot of young assets like multiple first round picks and young players, and the only team that has that is the 76ers....

Moving superstars has never been all about " who has the most to offer "..those superstars also have to want to be there. Or else they'll just leave..see; Dwight/LA.

The Sixers aren't about to trade all those assets and then watch Durant leave..because he will.

    Durant grew up a...
Toronto Raptors fan, he could have an emotional attachment to Maryland/DC, but he doesn't have one to the Wizards.

Toronto is another team to watch.

You don't have to love the team to go play for them. LeBron wasn't a Cavs fan growing up, but he loves Ohio.

But Lebron was also drafted by the Cavs after the NBA rigged another lottery . And so comes that pressure to return home to the team that he came into the league with.
