He won't be too slow. Running wise. Well, no longer slower than Tommy or Bruce Benedict. Dave Stewart is due for an opening season comment that will make everyone shake their heads. He's been quite for a few weeks. He's due.
well starting out on a .113 clip with 9K's in 53 AB's is NOT promising... even for a chinchilla... but Matty will improve those numbers... I hope...
wait, this writer is just figuring this shit out? attaboy nbc -- not need to look outside -- just keep promoting your pages and fluffers Are the Dodgers going to trade an outfielder?by Aaron Gleeman | NBCSports HardballTalk -- 4 hours agoLast season it wasn’t an issue because at least one player was always hurt, but this season the Dodgers have four very good outfielders for three starting spots with Yasiel Puig, Matt Kemp, Carl Crawford, and Andre Ethier. That means at least one of them is on the bench each game and it also means Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times asked general manager Ned Colletti if he plans to trade an outfielder:Complicating things is that the guys the Dodgers might actually want to trade–read: not Puig–all have huge contracts that teams likely won’t be lining up to take on. And of course the Dodgers probably care less about dumping big contracts than any other team, so having too many good outfielders is a nice problem to have. For now at least.Oh, and their fifth outfielder, Scott Van Slyke, is making the minimum salary while producing a .974 OPS in a part-time role. __
Don Mattingly really, really doesn’t want to play Matt Kemp in center fieldby Aaron Gleeman | NBC Hardball Talk -- 3 hours agoGetty ImagesHere’s how much Dodgers manager Don Mattingly is committed to keeping Matt Kemp from playing center field: Not only is Mattingly regularly playing Andre Ethier there despite his clearly being stretched range-wise, yesterday Scott Van Slyke got the nod in center field while Kemp remained in left field.Van Slyke is 27 years old and it was the first time he’s ever started a game in center field as a big leaguer. Even in the minors he rarely played center field, spending much more time in the corner spots and at first base. In fact, last time Van Slyke played center field in the minors was way back in 2010 at Double-A.Kemp has nearly 7,000 career innings in center field, but to keep from using him there now Mattingly is willing to make Ethier his everyday center fielder and use a career-long left fielder/first baseman like Van Slyke in center field.Mattingly predictably explained the decision by saying that he wants to give Kemp time to get comfortable as a regular left fielder rather than moving him back and forth, but … still. Ethier is perhaps a passable center fielder if you squint very, very hard, but Van Slyke in center field isn’t even squint-able. __
