This would be why I hate ESPN. HATE. They purposefully try to create controversy where there is none. Reread the comments. I am not Kemp's biggest fan as of late but he was not being douchey. He was saying that he will not give in to being a 4th OF when he knows he is better. I cannot INTERNALLY accept that. He always acknowledges that all four consider themselves everyday players. Here is what was left out in context. "I don't know where you get this fourth outfielder talk from," said Kemp. "... I think all four of us outfielders feel the same way. None of us are fourth outfielders. Everybody wants to play every day. I won't accept that role. I can't accept that role." There are only two issues I have with the comments. First, that ESPN manipulated Kemp to make him appear like he is a prima dona who is better than his teammates. Gee, I wonder what that might cause? Internal strife, perhaps? ESPN has seen that most of our guys are okay with seeing how this plays out with 4 OF for 3 positions. They want drama and wants someone labeled a malcontent. Perhaps to get him traded to Boston? Second, Kemp needs to shut the fuck up and just play. He almost needs to go all Andre on them and just glance past them when they are there to bother him about the same ole' bullshit. He won't because he does like the spotlight and being asked questions. BUT, again, overall--this is much ado about nothing but ESPN being assholes who are trying to create controversy.
not limited to just espn even one of our (supposed) own jumped on board... One of the team's biggest question marks is the health of one of its four highly-paid options: Matt Kemp. The 29-year-old bristled today at the notion that he could be a fourth outfielder, reports Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times. __
and a lot of our fans are buying it. if there's a problem, let the team handle it. when Kemp was in SF giving his jersey to his little buddy, the cancer patient that died, everybody rushed to give Kemp a hand job. he gets asked the same question for the 25th time, answers it the same way for the 25th time, the media spins it, all hell breaks loose and here we are. why create this divide within our fanbase? i mean really..." chinchilla "?? lol we're better than that. he may never be the MLB iron man that he once was, but " chinchilla "? lol
One can only hope the Chinchilla can return to 2011 form, STFU and play. But he has to be able to run and possibly find a new PED supplier.
I guess we must follow different teams. The guy who wears number 27 on the team I follow does not seem dirty. In fact, prior to colliding with a wall, coming back too quickly, and then making a moronic attempt to go home too late on a hit, he was pretty solid health wise. His workout regime was pretty stout. He has never even been implicated and has actually been used as an example of how to achieve without. I agree he should talk less but to suggest he is dirty is pretty off base to me.
Monster season. Sane season Braun got caught. Then chronic injuries to follow? Hm. Nothing and no one would surprise me anymore.
:clap::clap::clap::clap: Hoo-fucking-ray!!! I salute you sir, and I'm proud to call you a fellow fan. I was about to post something similar after wading through all the 'fuck you Matt' posts, about him having the correct attitude and people here not seeing the forest for the trees. Whether ESPN or other media sources, they want to be read, heard, or seen and the way to do that is to make something out of nothing. It used to be called 'yellow jounalism' but now it's standard operating procedure. Well done, sir.
And to Dylan I say, "What the fuck would you prefer he do, slink away and say 'yeah, I'm a pussy reserve guy'?" Of fucking course he's gonna bristle, if he didn't he wouldn't be a man. What would YOU do? If you didn't bristle, everyone-and I mean everyone, would think less of you. This is beyond stupid to me. WTF did he expect?
Wow...this will all be a tempest in a teapot after CC breaks his ankle in Australia. Ot when Yasiel is arrested for driving 130 KM perhour on the wrong side of the road down under. Long live Matt...the Bison!
yeah, after reading between the lines, i understand where kemp is coming from and i specifically liked this part... "I think all four of us outfielders feel the same way," said Kemp. "None of us are fourth outfielders. Everybody wants to play every day." the story headlines were completely misleading made it sound like kemp was being a primma donna when (by mentioning "all four of us") it was exactly the opposite and sometimes i post this stuff before getting a chance to read and that won't change my bkitches
He could take a page out of the Derek Jeter handbook and make it about the team and not himself. Especially since he hasn't played the most part of two seasons.
He hasn't had any chronic injuries just a streak of fluke injuries. Maybe the hamstrings but just about every athlete deals with hamstrings.
Not going to roll over and take it in the arse? That's how I like my athletes to think. Bench roles are fr Justin Sellers and Dee Gordon. I would be upset if my 20 mil player aimed so low.
revised the thread title as more sure to come... Healthy Crawford springs right into actionBy Ken Gurnick | MLB.com -- 1 hour agoGLENDALE, Ariz. -- In keeping with a reputation that he'll work until his hands bleed, Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford took enough batting practice Saturday to develop a blister on his hand.Aside from that, Crawford said he's in the best physical shape for the start of a Spring Training since 2011. He spent the winter strengthening his core and back muscles, which are suspected of leading to the hamstring problems that put him on the disabled list and diminished his base-stealing confidence.Manager Don Mattingly said he will give Crawford enough days off this season to keep him healthy, while Crawford said he intends on revving back up the burners the way he did while winning four base-stealing titles with Tampa Bay."I can tell a difference in the way I feel," he said. "There's not as much strain on my back and hamstrings."Crawford said the leg injuries took away his base-stealing aggressiveness. He said he will try more head-first slides on steals and avoid sliding on his back leg."I went head-first all the time when I was younger," Crawford said. "Generally, that's not the safest way. But either I do that or I stand still at first base all year. I'll try something different and get that doubt out of my head."Crawford had a decent steal success rate (15-of-19), but he had more than 50 stolen base attempts in seven of eight full seasons with Tampa Bay."That's what's frustrating," Crawford said. "I got my triples, went from first to third, why am I not stealing more? It's all mental and I just have to get over the hump." __
He's a hack though. I honestly feel he just phones it in. Being the dodgers beat writer for the times is just a job for Dylan. There's no passion there.
