Jose Dominguez... 0.1 innings... 3ER... 9.00WHIP.... 81.00 ERA... Sorry kid... hope you didn't spend that per diem yet...
classic dbb mismanagement left wright and dominguez in too long and brought jansen in too late; into a bad scenario on the positive, howell and malholm were solid
I went to bed after the 5th (East Coast pussy) so I need some help here. I read the recap and looked at the box score and they don't match. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/inde...2014_03_23_lanmlb_arimlb_1&mode=recap&c_id=la The story says Paul Maholm giving up a Martin Prado two-run double but the box score says he faced 1 batter and that was a strikeout (box link at top of that page). Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
Dee is playin some ball. he was doing all of this stuff in the winter league while playing CF...it continues.
For the life of me, I don't understand the Wright signing...posted it when it happened, and still don't know why. I'm going to attribute the "defense" up the middle to the fact that it's two weeks early in it's maturation. Ahem.. But that's pretty fucking sad out there. Y'know... for the major leagues and all that kinda shit... How many extra pitches does that E and non-play cost Ryu? He might have been able to actually stay out there another inning or so, and maybe the "long relief magnificence of Jamie Wright" could have been avoided, but I doubt it... for other reasons. I'm glad this is in the books, and the Aussies do seem to know the game pretty damn well, like applause for Ryu, when he moves the runner over on a sac bunt, Dee's sac fly, etc. Good to see/hear that. Why Puig got booed is a bit puzzling....how do you establish yourself negatively already? In the South Pacific? Maybe they expect a player to know the rules and the game better than he does? IMO, he's certainly not improving in that aspect, that's for sure. Looks worse. But sure hits the ball hard.
Ya'll are haters. I suppose Wilson and Jansen should pitch the 8th and 9th regardless of 7 run leads. They'll get days off when Kersh and Greinke throw complete games, right? All the blame on Wright but Dominguez throws a hundred so don't worry about his shit performance. Neither pitched great but Wright did it with a 7 run lead, got two outs and gave up 1. Dominguez did it with a 6 run lead, got 1 out and gave up 3. If anyone should be on the "lets bitch about it list" it should be Dominguez. I'd rather look at it as a win literally around the world and hold judgement until the real regular season. I'm baffled by the hate on Mattingly considering most people think he uses his go to arms too much and in this case he tried not to with a big lead...just, no words.
The story is wrong. Maholm face one batter and struck him out with a lovely pitch sequence, then was removed. Unbeaten season still in tact! Hopefully I never have to see Baxter in a Dodger uniform again.
Am I the only one slightly irritated by them now playing 3 games that don't matter when they return? Why not just have the australia games 3 days later, giving them a few days to recuperate and maybe play an inter-squad game or two. /rant
They're giving them time to adjust back to US time. And we always play the Angels here before the real season starts.
I know, what i'm saying is why not have played the A-Holes before they left? No reason to completely change their mindset back to spring just for 3 games.
Fuck playing the Gaylos on 3 games that don't count now, ugh, I hate this whole thing. Luckily we got 2 wins out of it, but fuck.
i criticize mattingly as much as anyone but i like the way he addressed what happened credit where credit is due Mattingly had harsh words for the bullpen that he felt forced him to use closer Kenley Jansen twice in the first 19 hours of the season because it could not protect a seven-run lead. "We talked about this last year a lot; you don't play like this and win," Mattingly said. "You may win and get to the playoffs, but you don't win like this. This ends up getting us in trouble. bravo  __
Agreed. What I want most from Mattingly is to learn from his mistakes. He cost is games last year when he kept making the same mistakes over and over again. Now let's hope that after three years, he's figured out what can take us to the next level.
I wonder if there ever was a team like we are now who had two players like Dee and Yasiel? I mean two guys that can be awesome in one respect (or two, etc) like hitting and running/hitting and throwing and be so terrible with another basic aspect of the game...all in the same day? Like going 3 for 4, and letting a LL liner glance off your glove. ? Or like crushing doubles and getting RBIs and winding up ridiculously in no mans land and being tagged out for no reason whatsoever. I don't know if other young "superstars" like Harper or Trout mess up like these two (I imagine they've probably done dopey things in their short careers), but practically every day? Why do we have to have so much yang with our ying? In equal portions? Why can't we just have ying with just a little yang? A little bit...
