what to do about/with ct3 can’t send him to the minors without his consent, but the team may have some leverage ct3 has said how much he’s loves playing in la, and he and his wife are supposedly building a new home in so cal give him an ultimatum… either he accepts a minor league stint (to figure shit out) or they release him yeah it’s a risk and he’s still owed just under $30 mil for the next two years, but is there really any point hanging onto a 037/.188/.037 hitter?
And here I got a woody seeing the title of this thread, thinking it was going to be for a collection of CT3 nicknames. Alright, I can be serious for a moment. There is zero chance he gets cut or sent down at this point. And he's also not going to end the season as a sub .050 hitter. But what's best case scenario? .200? .225? Whatever, not good enough. His best days are long gone. Maybe if (when) he's still flailing in a month or two, one of those phantom injuries will surface that lands him on the IL and Vargas or Pages take his roster spot.
Strikeout rates for hitters have gotten absurd, but seeing 42% of the time for CT3 is wild lol He seems like the type of guy who would okay a minor league stint to work on mechanics, but I don't know. There's obviously something REALLY off right now, and he hasn't looked that great the last few years. I think he'll have a decent leash, but if he's still looking awful come mid May, I could see us cutting ties.
At this point it’s probably at least 50% mental, so he just needs to get out of his own way. Hard to do anything if you’re worried about fucking up. He needs to clear his head and try to succeed instead of trying not to fail.
In 2011, Eugenio Velez had arguably the worst season ever by a Dodger. He went 0 for 37. 11 of those were strikeouts. Dodgers cut him and he never played another major league game. In my opinion, Kaylor's season-to-date is worse. 1 for 32, with 17 strikeouts. At least Velez was mostly putting the ball in play, giving himself a chance of getting a hit. Kaylor is whiffing an unheard of 53% of the time.
I guess to be fair the five walks lower his strikeout rate to 46%. Ironically, a walk is about the best-case scenario when he's at bat, and yet even that happens way too infrequently.
yup just saw this Noah Camras@noahcamras Chris Taylor fouls out to lead off the 11th inning, failing to advance the runner at second. He's 0-for-5 today with 3 strikeouts and a reach on error. On the year, he's 1-for-32 with 17 strikeouts. Meanwhile, Andy Pages hit his 3rd home run in AAA today and has a .976 OPS. 10:23 PM · Apr 12, 2024 · 19.8K Views .
they're just trying to save options on Pages and for some reason are convinced ct will come around he looks as lost as hes ever been at the plate love the ugly rat but its over and time to move on
Doug McKain@DMAC_LA Dave Roberts on Chris Taylor's slow start: "He's scuffling, certainly. He's one of our core guys. Every time he gets in there, I expect something good to happen. He's always been a streaky guy. I'm trying to give him some runway while Jason is down." 4:40 PM · Apr 12, 2024 · 23.3K Views
