Probably not, well i wonder what the new stuff is like.
I say because they are very thematic politically with absurd pop grabbing metal elements that are all specific to their time.
Then again that shit from bands of your generation kinda becomes timeless.
They are kinda the closest thing to CCR in a weird roundabout way.
I grew up on CCR like it was wine in my blood.

During the time when SOAD were a working band I went to 4 or 5 of their shows.
And wasn't a huge concert goer. Maybe one or two a year.
The only other band I have seen more than that is Caifanes.
Both groups attract the kind of girl I was into growing up.
    Coincidentally.

Shit you are starting to make me rethink SOAD.
I haven't cared for them in years.
Didnt even check out their new stuff.

Lets see what these crazy rebellious punks are about now.

    :D

Thing about SOAD is that passion
Second generation Armos pushing back on the elders

Everytime I listen to the hook of this song I instantly think that this is from whence bands like the Shins got the idea of how to make their subtle hooks.
Yall probably wouldn't know it but i'm a sucker for this kind of music.
But that means that even though winter is coming spring is in the air.
And that there is a definite link between new order and new slang when subpop on top the pops.

AC/DC had a new album out. Unashamed but I love them so much. I used to watch live in donington all the time and am glad they’re back with Brian back singing.

    Dad rock lives on

    i'm your pappy lol
remember seeing them sing on a late night show like Kirshner's back in the day singing whole lotta rosie and thought "well that was weird but definitely rocked"
then fm radio started playing songs like let there be rock and this crazy video came out and i'm thinking crazy fucking Aussies

then highway to hell came out

and everyone knew who they were but then Bon Scott fucking dies and its over but then back in black hits the shelves to everyone's surprise

i was living w four other dudes in a house at the time and walked in with the album before anyone had heard it because you could do that back then
we cued it up and started listening and within 20 seconds of the opening of Hells Bells my buddy had turned it to 11 and his system from his work which was the old Rogersounds lab
the fucking house shook and that disc didn't leave the turntable for months
for me that stretch of this band is a historic unabashed fuck everyone rock and roll crime spree
no one else has ever really come close to creating their sound before or since
i'd never be ashamed of liking something so original sonically and lyrically
really great band and seriously never thought there was anyway they could exist this long
AC/DC is legendary rock and roll as much as Zep, Sabbath and Purple imo

I remember once for my birthday I asked my dad to buy me the highway to hell cd. The look on his face and the talking to I got for wanting a cd with the word hell written on it is a funny moment I’ll never forget

Cut to later on in the car after we got it and he’s jamming out just as much as I am

Was at a party one evening and a guy walks in and announces that he's got the new Zeppelin album. It was the fourth album (the one with no name). All conversations came to halt as he put it on the turntable and cranked it up. One of those moments in music you don't forget.

As time's gone on, this has become my favorite from that LP.

I grew up with classic rock, but on my formative years, I started to gravitate to punk and new wave. That’s when I started to get into Joy Division and then New Order. It’s very different hearing bands that were influenced by these early influences and actually hearing these sounds for the first time.

Same experience hearing Happy Mondays and the Smiths for the first time.

i remember being very stoned at a party and dark side of the moon was on
i had heard songs from it but never the song time
fucking came out of my shoes!
nothing will ever compare to shuffling amongst our mates houses w albums to play for each other will it?
loved the cure at the time but when i first heard this cut off disintegration on the radio it immediately went full volume
"yeah i like you in that, like i like you to scream but if you open your mouth i cannot be responsible for quite what goes in or to care what comes out"

    Same here.
I used to spend nights drinking with friends listening to the classics from the late sixties to the late 70's.
But they were all dudes with long hair and tight jeans like me.
Always lusting after the big haired valley girls and getting rejected as house/freestyle music (our version of disco) was popular and rock was in decline and not cool.
But some beautiful pale faced dead looking girl dressed like a funeral queen seemed to periodically fall into my lap.
And with that came all that gay synth based music that I had been programmed to hate by tribal rite of passage as a hard rock/metal guy.
Nirvana was gonna come in a year or so later to pull away the rock veil that had been put over our eyes growing up anyway.
After that it was all gay synth music and goth chicks.

    I got old.
    In terms of new metal.
When nu metal came out I started checking out.
The last era of heavy music that was relevant to me was the post grunge with bands like the aforementioned System.
I am not that familiar with this band. They look like the modern continuation of bands like Korn. I was already too old for that shit.
This video though is pretty relevant. And when metal like rap hits new it has to be red hot fire from the depths. Present truth.

The song is not horrible either.
