Wood surrounded himself with talent, too. That always helps ....

probably because the Stones greatest body of work was before he got there and he basically became the greatest hits touring guitarist
i don't dislike him but his chops, tone and flow are not in the same league as Taylor
fun to imagine what the band would have been if Frampton, Beck or my favorite Marriot had been in
no way Mick wanted to compete w Steve's personality on stage
still i feel Wood got the gig based more on his look and personality jmho

stumbled across this and for some reason never realized it was Mickey Thomas singing on it
now THAT is talent holy cow
not sure how he was hooked up w Bishop but every dollar he ever made in music is owed to MT

Bishop never moved the needle much for me either but his guitar work with Paul Butterfield speaks to his skills as a player if not a singer.

MT sang well though. Solid voice.

When I think of Mickey Thomas I think of the abortion that was Jefferson Starship. Shouldn't have been another Jefferson after the Airplane.

would have been fine/better had they left jefferson out of the name
whatever, they’ve always been two different bands to me
    the biggest difference being grace

don't totally disagree but i played the hell out of this album
definitely more of a pop rock sensibility but Chaquico was quite a player and they started out pretty strong
unfortunately is ended up in sap pop and we built this city
could have done without that era

Never thought that Dickey Betts would make it to 40, let alone 80 ... but he can rest now. Quite a band he's got up there with both Allmans and Berry Oakley too ...

In Memory of Elizabeth Reed was the epitaph on the gravestone in the cemetery that The Allman Joys practiced in for years before they broke out.

    What a band.

    Also ...

Dan Rather is a leftist asshole prevaricator. But he did two things well in his life: field reporting under fire in Vietnam, and this interview.

Of recent years and even the last few weeks, this song is my Dodger fan reality ...

I know the actual lyrics aren't about anything like being on H or banging in a car ... but considering how addicted we've become to Dodger baseball & what this team has done to us ....
