Irish, your tilting at windmills my friend... but I agree with all of your sentiments. Modern ballplayers are as spoiled as they come. Cap becomes the 'keeper' by virtue of his willingness to work with the team. However I'd remain very reluctant to part with ANY arms for as long as we can as 'something' always seems to happen and having extra arms, especially lefty arms is always a good thing...
and that's the problem -- defining what is "as long as we can" meanwhile they're all taking up roster spots that could be given to better bullpen arms or position players cap is probably the best spot starter of the three, harang probably the best out of the pen, and lilly... who the fuck knows
Lilly needs to heal. and get steady work. What 'other' arms do we care about? I'd waste Uribe myself... but he's had a fair spring.
ames, guerra, magill, paco, tolleson, withrow... most (if not, all) of them would be better options out of the pen than harang, cap or lilly imo
so lilly doesn't want to go to the minors, while cap and harang want to remain starters... too fucken bad the team is [over]paying you scrubs to do a job -- whatever job they see fit lilly... you may not want to go on a rehab assignment, but why would a team -- with aspirations (and expectations) of playing into november -- want a wounded below-average rag-armed pitcher taking away a roster spot from someone better equipped to do the job? cap, harang... you guys just don't get it there are five spots available and you guys are options six and seven still don't understand? here, i'll make it simple for you... kershaw, greinke, beckett, ryu and billingsley are all better than you -- significantly better than you so you can either man up and try to help the team, or you can continue to pout like whiny bitches Lilly, Capuano, Harang could be headed to 'penBy Austin Laymance / MLB.com | 3/29/2013 2:00 A.M. ETANAHEIM -- The Dodgers have an overflow of starting pitchers, and some could end up in the bullpen by Opening Day on Monday.Ted Lilly, Chris Capuano and Aaron Harang are the candidates to move from a starting role to the 'pen.Lilly said Wednesday he'd prefer to pitch out of the bullpen rather than on a Minor League rehab assignment to rebuild arm strength. Capuano prefers a starting role, though Los Angeles appears inclined to send him to the 'pen. Harang also wants to remain a starter.Manager Don Mattingly did not divulge much of the club's plans for the trio of pitchers before Thursday's exhibition against the Angels."Well, we haven't announced any of it, so it's hard to say," Mattingly said. "But I'm saying you're going to find some of them out in part of our bullpen. Guys will end up pitching out of our 'pen, we just haven't finalized that because you never really know what's going to happen in the last couple of days of Spring Training. At this point, we have a pretty good feel and we'll make decisions going forward."The Dodgers could trade Harang or Capuano before the season. Seattle, Pittsburgh and Cleveland have scouted both pitchers. __
I have a feeling Lilly will go on the DL for some type of arm injury. Dude has just been atrocious this spring.
I'll call this. Harang or Cap will be traded for Andino/Ryan + someone else. Ned loves his shitty hitting SS's, who play decent defense. (We know he has some weird obsession with Jack Wilson)
is it bad that i was almost hoping for lilly to suffer a setback? Lilly tosses bullpen session; rehab game next? By Ken Gurnick and Austin Laymance | MLB.com 04/02/2013 9:16 PM ET LOS ANGELES -- Ted Lilly threw a lengthy bullpen session Tuesday that sets him up to pitch in a Minor League game Friday at Rancho Cucamonga. Lilly said he wasn't sure what would follow the bullpen session. Much more than that remains a mystery as Lilly has declined to answer questions about his current status on the Dodgers. Officially, he's on the disabled list, and maybe that's why when his name was introduced during Opening Day ceremonies, Lilly didn't join his teammates on the third-base line. Or maybe Lilly was sending a thinly veiled message for being dislodged from the starting rotation after requiring shoulder surgery last year. Easily forgotten is that until the game in which he was injured, Lilly was having the best season of his career (5-0, 1.79 ERA). And that was a carryover from the end of 2011, when he won five of his last six decisions. Manager Don Mattingly would only say that he and pitching coach Rick Honeycutt are trying to get Lilly's arm strength built back up so he can resume starting. Where that will be, considering that the Dodgers have seven other starters, is another one of those mysteries. "It'll work itself out," said Mattingly. That's been management's stock answer to the surplus of starters, two of which (Chris Capuano and Aaron Harang) were sent to the bullpen, after combining for 22 victories as starters last year. Because of his twice-repaired shoulder, Lilly is not considered a candidate for relief. Lilly is in the final season of a three-year, $33 million contract.Ken Gurnick is a reporter for MLB.com. The Dodgers have a surplus of starting pitchers, leaving Aaron Harang, Chris Capuano, and Ted Lilly in limbo, writes Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times. Neither Harang nor Capuano are pleased to be in a relief role, as both feel they're still starting pitchers. Hernandez's colleague, Steve Dilbeck, writes that the unhappiness of the Dodgers' reluctant trio of relievers could eventually become a problem for the team. As Dilbeck notes, pitching in long relief roles will negatively impact the contracts that Capuano and Harang can receive in free agency this offseason. tough shit you're the ones that agreed to the terms of your contracts playing time isn't guaranteed and management isn't obligated to giving it to you scrubs at the expense of the team's success there's a bigger picture, and you three clowns (as starters) aren't part of it :vlick:
Dodgers lefty Ted Lilly allowed five runs on nine hits, including three homers, in six innings against Lake Elsinore in a rehab start at Class A Rancho Cucamonga on Friday night.Lilly began the season on the disabled list, unable to compile enough foundational innings in Spring Training because of the flu and a rainout. Lilly is coming off shoulder surgery.Lilly gave up two homers to Kyle Gaedele and one by Yeison Asencio. He struck out four without a walk.Lilly is expected to make at least one more rehab start before he's ready to start in the Major Leagues, and then the Dodgers must find room for him. Manager Don Mattingly earlier said Lilly is not a likely candidate for the bullpen, where the Dodgers already have stashed starting pitchers Chris Capuano and Aaron Harang. __
Nice show by Lilly. I can't wait to get this guy in our bully. 2 outs in the 6th and our starter has worked himself into a bases loaded jam - bring in Lilly and watch the fireworks fly.
i know everyone hates harang but thats the guy i would harang on to out of those three. cap was nails in the first half last year and then he wasn't. lilly hasn't been anything but a memory since his injury. at least aaron kept us in 5 of 6 games he threw last year. i vote ugly.
Hanrang and Capuano are legitimate starters but there aint a spot. Tough shit. Lilly just can't recover from his injury. Billingsley got rouged up in his rehab start bit I'm hoping his mind is with the ML club and just wants to get back.
