Negative, Ghost Rider. Lifetime .267 BA, .327 OBP doesn't scream lead off to me. Only real difference between Rollins and Dee is that Dee is younger and faster. Then again, there is this out there: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/...paign=Feed:+MlbTradeRumors+(MLB+Trade+Rumors)
lifetime .272/.331/.445 and an OPS of .776 for Rollins in the leadoff spot though. and of course he walks more than Dee as well..about 60 times a year over the last 4 seasons. an upgrade over Dee in that spot..won't be wearing down late in the season like slap and run Dee either. still playing his best ball in the 2nd half of the year. more experience.
Jon Heyman @JonHeymanCBS 13s13 seconds ago rollins deal to dodgers is agreed to. needs commish approval tho since $ goes from philly to la.
cash as well? oh man this gets better and better edit: oops, just say what 99 said. a little concerned
i'm predicting Lee. but perhaps it's Windle or Anderson if money is coming in. i won't like losing Windle, but i'll get over it. leadoff spot it too important..this clubhouse needed Rollins in it.
Ohhhhh, well THAT'S different. So his average goes up .005 and his OBP goes up .004 from his lifetime numbers vs. his leadoff numbers. Whoopty doo!
the way i'll see it is if it's Anderson or even Windle..if they're working on getting Hamels too..Anderson or Windle were leaving anyway.
that is pretty different when you consider that Dee's done it for 1 yr..and the major difference in their slugging and walks. the numbers are what they are. don't be sour. it's an upgrade.
Dodgers were quoted as saying, "We needed money in the Rollins deal to pay for the parking lot we don't own."
i like rollins always have i liked dee too i just think rollins is a better fit for us no numbers, just my gut feeling
like i was saying in the other thread..Rollins has been a slow starter in his career, so a lot of fans are probably gonna be like.." WTF we had Dee!!! " to start out the season. but Rollins' MO is as a strong finisher..2nd half of the season he really get's it going ( another difference between he and Dee). and that's just at the plate..the glove is gonna be there all year. but yea, just by virtue of the fact that Rollins walks way more than Dee does..he fits in with us a lot better because we draw walks.
I'm not sour. I'm just saying that Rollins isn't THAT great a leadoff hitter. He and Dee are basically the same, though Rollins has more pop. It's an upgrade at SS defensively, it remains to be seen what happens at 2nd. And when I say they are the same, I'm not using Dee's 1 season numbers, I'm using his entire career, albeit short. 1300+ plate appearances is a decent sample. Rollins has the edge in power and that's about it. Not much difference anywhere else. All in all, it's a good bridge until the younger players arrive.
i don't see how you can say there's not much difference anywhere else..there's a big difference in walks, a big difference in how Dee fades in the 2nd half and how strong Rollins usually finishes, along with the big difference in pop. and Rollins is a switch hitter to too. i'm not saying Rollins is a great leadoff guy, however, he is an upgrade..that's been my point from the start. and Irish makes perhaps an even better point in that Rollins is a better fit..the fact that he walks as much as he does..that plays into what they do as a team.
Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports (Twitter link) that some of the prospects the Dodgers acquired from the Marlins in the Dee Gordon trade could be involved in the Rollins deal. A third team is also involved in the Rollins trade, MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki tweets.
