And the rosters can change each series. Young could pull his hamstring, Shumaker can break his ankle, etc and we'll need a guy for the NLCS. Never know. But you gotta do two things 1) Best 25, spare no feelings or politics 2) Match up best with whatever team you're facing
just curious... but where is all the kemp hype/optimism coming from? even if he's healthy, his 0-for-18 rancho stint (and subsequent cameltoe trip) showed he was so rusty he couldn't even hit minor league pitching what am i missing?
Well id want him on assumin he gets like 5-7 games in, but it's hard to have him available and not want him at least on the bench with his upside. SVS might fail also, and kemp can do shitty but it'd be hard to say no to that upside on the bench Now if he comes back and sucks dick or doesn't get into too many games than idk. And also, I probably don't have him start in the playoffs against ANY righties
Because of his enormous upside to help this team. There's only one way to shake off rust, and that is to play. He hit 4 HRs in a simulated game yesterday, and although that's not "real" pitching, we can be hopeful it's a sign the rust is coming off. It's optimism as much as it is hope, and if he's healthy enough to play, he's going to be on the roster.
nah, totally get that my concerns were 1) his health and 2) the likelihood of him being mlb ready for the postseason also... is kemp going to want/expect to be given his cf job back just like that? kinda sounded like it the other day
guys always say that stuff about playing time when asked, but as long as he steps when he's called upon, who cares. Ethier was moaning about his PT earlier too, then he starts hitting and we stopped caring. Kemp has been a good teammate in the dugout so I'm not too worried where his heart is
I'd cut Capuano and use Dee, SVS, and Kemp. I reallt see no need for Caps at that point. Everything else is perfect my friend.
I don't know...maybe I'd know if we made the postseason more than 2x every 10 years but why would we need more than that,LOL? I mean we only need 3-4 starters. Looking at that bullpen...I see no need to carry more than what you posted-Capuano. If we burn through that many guys with travel days off we've probably lost...LOL Also, we'd have 94mph Skip available to close out games.
LOL, seriously though, I've never really paid attention to the number of pitchers usually taken to the post season but man I would think 10 would be plenty. I guess you'd have to fear that in a 3 game stretch going extra innings or maybe a 15+ game. Can you change out rosters spots once the series starts? Like we go 15 innings in game 3, so put Wilson(or whomever) on the DL and bring in Capuano for game 4? I suppose we'd then lose the DLed pitcher for the remainder of the post season but it might be worth it. i just really don't see us using that many pitchers with CK, Greinke, and Nolasco (assuming he's still great then) in the rotation.
Well the flip side is that if these pitchers go deep into the games, you don't really need a lot of pinch hitters either. So, it's 4 starting pitchers, 8 starting hitters and 13 extra players. We probably take 7 bullpen arms (which is the amount we usually have for the regular season), and 6 bats (which is one more than we have during the regular season) That's the ideal number to me.
