Moncada's gonna fly through the minors, period. You spend 80M on a prospect and you're not about to let him stay down there facing 95 mph throwing youngsters who haven't quite gotten a grip on their command yet. Easier to protect the investment in the bigs. A quick dip in high A and then on to AA to team with Seager..both make the jump for good next year.

 

All I keep hearing is that the Yankees are the most likely team to sign Yoan. Watching the top prospect show from Baseball America convinced me that we need to sign this guy!!!! I'm just afraid the Yanks are going to get him.

Make that 3 workouts that Moncada had with the Yankees!!!! This a really bad sign and I think the final nail on our chances I believe.

 

I think the two workouts he had with us was plenty.

 

It'd make sense if the Yankees did get Moncada..they need him more than perhaps anybody outside of San Diego.

 

Is his agent accepting he will need a stint in the minors? If so why the rush to get him in camp ASAP?

 

And as BZ noted there is a sizable Cuban population in the area

 

I don't give a fuck, we should sign Moncada. We have the money and he is a talent you don't just pass up on. Go and get it fucking done, PERIOD.

 

And now it sounds like his price will be between a 20-30 million dollar bonus. Should be a fucking no brainer.

Do we? They borrowed 1.6 billion to buy the team and as of now the TV deal is losing money for Time Warner.

 

I read an article yesterday with a well respected Latin American talent evaluator saying Mocado was a tremendous talent with only one downside and that was would he allow coaches to help him. With our management team having Puig to help along and having experienced Cespedes in Oakland that might have been a red flag

Pisses me off, that # should not have been a damn problem for managemnt. Fucking sick of them being "interested" in big time players/prospects and not coming away with any of them. Also the Red Sox didn't really have a need for him either and now they are loaded into the future
