I agree. Phillips, Wright, Hamilton, Hamels and Cain would all fit in really well. Not saying that we land all of them but maybe 3 outta the 5, especially if we are really going to be the "Yankees East".

It does suck as far as hitters go. There are no premier hitters. Hamilton will be resigned. Wright needs to prove to me that he is not sliding down. Phillips would be nice. 3/4 catchers would be good for us if Fedex is not ready or good enough. Upton and Victorino are good but not premier. I do like swisher for his kzone knowledge. The pitching is where it's at. Cain and Hamels need to be Dodgers/

There's no Pujols or Fielders but I'd prefer a bunch of above average 3-4 win players than 2 or 3 6 win guys and garbage like this year. It's way deeper than this years was, there's like 15 very good players.

I am not disagreeing about there being some good hitters. But, IMO, none of the hitters (save Hamilton should he stay healthy) is on the level of Prince.

That's true, but also none of them will command 9 figure deals, so instead of one Prince, we could get maybe, Montero, Aybar and Cain for the same price.

Aybar? What purpose does he serve? Hasn't played anywhere but SS since '08.

Matt Cain as a Dodger would be so cool

but i think he stays and Timmy bolts
lol this week the Giants offered Lincecum 2/40 and he countered with 2/44

    I totally agree here.....

On a side note, you mean Yankees West, because Yankees East are the Yankees ;)

    Latest On Roy Oswalt

By Ben Nicholson-Smith [January 25 at 10:35pm CST]
10:35pm: The Cardinals made a bid approaching $5MM on Oswalt weeks ago but that deal is not likely to happen, tweets Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Strauss predicts that the Rangers will win the bidding on Oswalt with $2-3MM more and other perks.

This is a golden opportunity to for Nedco but he is blithering moron. Oswalt signing for 7 or 8 plus incentives is a fucking steal. DS could help get him back on track and every time he hits a milestone, we win. How fucking hard is this? Kershaw/Oswalt/Bills/Lilly/Harang--Capuano. That fucking dog will hunt.

If we don't go after him (we won't) I hope Oswalt goes to Texas. Anything to fuck over the Anals.

I am starting to get excited about 2013 and 2014 especially. By then we will have had chance to stock up some top talent for the rotation and lineup. I just hope a new GM doesn't get anxious and try trade some outstanding young pitchers for an immediate impact to soon. If we sign a Cain and or Hamel then we can afford to let some youth go but not until we have done that. Hopefully Loney blossoms and we feel we are only a top 3rd baseman away or the Reds don't resign Votto and we can get him but still need a bat at 3rd.

    agreed
if we were going to go after anyone
    it was prince
could have easily justified it to prospective owners
that it would have increased the value of the franchise
fans would have been on board
    bought all the promo shit
and a lot of season ticket holders would have emerged and/or returned
    oswalt could be a steal
but he's not going to increase the team's value

He will if he does well, signs an extension and we only need one of Hamels, Cain, Grenke....

i think the giants are going to lose Lince and keep Cain. Cain just looks like a lifer. You can tell he loves it up there and the fanbase loves him. I saw a picture of him being drafted, he was wearing a orange polo with a black undershirt. he'll take a Weaver discount imo

i think it's in Hamels best interest to become a FA
we would have to be favs to get him. Sure you can go to the yanks/sox or stay in philly, but we're in a weaker division and on the west coast, close to Cole's home
