Score one for Frank. I am wary of the line in the story "If the damages were deemed too great, the team could halt the sale". I hope and pray that sale agreement is legally binding.
At this point my optimism has gone back to who the hell knows. This is so typical with McCourt and how he manages to throw something else into the mix. If I had to guess Blackstone helped convince the creditor committee to come forward. The irony of this is that other than Gross the principals have all had a hand in getting us into this mess. Fox, Selig and the McCourts.
I would not discount Garvey so quickly. I know he had a checkered financial past but he won't have complete control of the finances of the Dodgers like he did when he had those issues in his personal life. He is more of a figure head and I trust Orel implicitly. ANY owner coming in here would be under such a microscope given the situation that brought them to buy the Dodgers in the 1st place that it would be virtually impossible to skulk around in the dark making backroom deals. ANY suspicious or morally questionable behavior would be met with mobs of fans with torches. I as a fan would be more concerned with the backers past and what kind of industry they made their money in and not whether you like the guys or not. Words like hedge fund and parking lot owner are more scary than anything else.
i agree any team garvey is a part of is doomed. he was a politician as a player and was widely known to be an absolute farce of a human being. just hearing him mentioned makes me cringe.
Opinions do vary on the man that is for sure but the scandals during his personal life and marriage to Cyndi happened in 1988 over 23 years ago. I'm not sure where the mistrust comes from but I do understand that you can have a feeling about someone regardless.
for me personally it was conversations with cey that verified what a lot of people thought. then his past chapped his ass.
I just don't want someone with no money to run the team. Garv, I love ya and everything, but I don't think he's the right guy to run the team. And I don't think hookers around the stadium will be a big hit with everyone.
well, there will be some who like the idea, just not EVERYONE, so I technically had everyone covered for their specific needs.
Seems like things are starting to get wild and the McCourt has Fox pissed of and wanting to fry him. http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-spw-1125-dodgers-fox-20111125,0,1276105.story
so its now down to Fox vs mccourt and everyone has decided to be on mccourts side even the MLB as Selig has agreed to shut his piehole and let Fox hang out to dry the lot of them deserve each other, they are a stain on everything they touch damn... hasnt Fox been on some torrid court case losing streak for a while now across all of its businesses it seems?
Here's an idea... allow McCourt to sell the TV rights ONLY if the parking lots are also included in the sale.
