I think he was on the cusp this season had he not gotten hurt. We will see how he responds after missing the whole second half of the season, but he seems like the perfect spot starter to have in the org with his ability to keep the ball on the ground.
Nice game winning dong from Verdugo last night. It's swings like that where I feel he's going to eventually be an 18-22 HR a year guy. His bat speed is too good and he's also too strong for the team not to be able to twirk that a bit and get some more loft out of him. http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=1709616683&sid=milb
not sure what to make of peters from what i've seen he's got a lot of pop, but he's pretty raw will be interesting to see how he develops
A-Gon goes yard for OKC. Mitchell White with another impressive performance for Tulsa 5 IP, 2 hits, 2 walks and 8 strikeouts ERA now 1.59 even though the team was shut out. After a torrid start in Ogden Jeren Kendall was called up to Great Lakes but struggled. Guess he may have found something? https://www.milb.com/milb/news/jere...for-great-lakes-loons/c-247730618/t-185364810
Yusniel Diaz our #5 spec on a roll. Could have A-Gon, Dre AND Kersh at Cucamonga? https://www.truebluela.com/2017/8/1...az-tulsa-drillers-dodgers-minor-league-report
This is not even fair. I can't tell what the first pitch was, but something like a slider or change, I believe. Then FB, FB, FB and a dirty dirty hook. http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?content_id=1725938583&sid=milb
Come up in September and mow people down. He has been in the 2017 plans since spring training apparently.
Some bloggers are low on him being a reliever and low on Verdugo coming up to displace Joc. Same bloggers were wrong about Bellinger so wtvs. If they come up and play well, you gotta roll with it. Time to win.
I think he would have to be overwhelming. Even if he was, he would be handled with kid gloves. Not sure that fits in a playoff scenario where everyone should be available every night.
I think the move to the pen is specifically to see how he does there for a possible help for the playoffs. Would be easy to limit innings as a starter if they had no plans to call him up, but I don't think they'd move him to the bullpen solely for inning limits cause you should keep a player in the starters role to help them develop.
Coming off TJ surgery and the way we have handled injured pitchers I'm not so sure. In the minors he was on a pitch count limit and if it happens to get him further into a game so be it. Last start in the minors he threw his Dodger career high of 84 pitches and then was switched to the pen much to my surprise so to me that smells of saving his bullets and being cautious. At the very least going to the pen gives us an opportunity to see what he's got which is simply electric!!! After the season he'll likely end up in winter ball to continue his development as a starter as will Brock Stewart I'm guessing.
- Buehler threw last night. Went 1.1 giving up 3 H's, 2 K's and 1 ER. I have been busy and never saw a report on it, but it was in Colorado Springs so that's a place where all results are to be taken with a GIANT grain of salt. The game was also a blowout. - No Verdugo in the lineup tonight for OKC tonight. Thought it was somewhat interesting that this happened with Bellinger apparently not progressing very well and in my head he had just had a night off, but I was wrong. Verdugo is back on one of his tears with a .367 AVG, 1 HR and a 4:4 K:BB ratio in his last 10. Heating back up at the right time.... see you soon, buddy! - Dennis Santana had his 3rd good start in AA after his first two rough ones. Went 6 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 10 K's. There are some folks out there that REALLY like this kid. Keep an eye on him as he's still young and has been pretty under the radar good.
