Somewhat interesting - Joc has played LF in his first 2 games in OKC. Verdugo, Ramos, and Trayce have all rotated in CF.

My guess is that the trade for Granderson has changed the plans for Verdugo this season. AGon making good contact since coming back, Bellinger likely headed for CF and Taylor to 2B is not going to give Verdugo the opportunity to play much down the stretch. So they are probably giving Pederson the innings in LF for a WS potential and defensive purposes late in games as Granderson is not a great fielder.

That seems like Joc's future, and he is probably being super smart.
Joc is naturally a big dude, and he likes to eat and has loads of money from playing baseball to buy whatever food he wishes.
    Heaven.
Why kill yourself trying to make weight as a CF?
Specially when you have the talent but don't necessarily want the responsibility of being the QB in the OF.
Then he knows that Verdugo is coming hard after his job and is hungry for the job the way Joc used to be and is for pizza and ice cream.
Even his RF who gives him a hard time sometimes is more of a CF in terms of leading an OF.
And the fact that Bellinger and Taylor have infield destinies.
What else... oh yeah the best hitter in the organization, the 2B with the LF destiny... he was traded to the Rangers.
SVS got traded... just kidding, that is meaningless.

What is not meaningless is that LF will be an open field next year.
Toles should be back, Ethier will probably try again, maybe Grandy signs for one more year like Utley, and Kike who would naturally be his platoon partner.
Toles is probably his main competition. So Joc will become the opposite of Toles because he cant be smaller and faster than Toles, but he can be bigger and stronger.
And he has seen Puig do the long road to recovery and have the Dodgers accept him as his new self. A patient hitter who can now manipulate pitchers to get his pitch which he hammers hard to make plays. Even if its just against RHP.
So Joc needs to get stronger, forget about trying to be a CF, be the best defensive LF in baseball.
Then work on the approach in order to become the high OBP guy that is his 1 skill, refining his swing to get more line drives and using his power to be a 40HR a year guy from the 7th or 8th spot in the order. At least vs righties.
A big strong but not exactly lumbering power hitter who can get on base. Even if his ceiling is hitting .250 but with a .400 OBP and a SLG in the mid 500's. As a good defensive LF that can get you playing time and contract.

All this moving around..I guess at least CB gets to play the OF spot he´s most comfortable at.
But if all this affects his splits negatively, it´ll go down as Plaxico/JPP..shooting themselves in the foot/blowing their own fingers off

    Exactly.

I mentioned it to drive home the point that Joc isn't just being displaced to LF for certain players, meaning the move to LF is very deliberate. He started in LF again last night.

    - Someone flying under the radar right now is Dustin May(Dodgers #15 prospect according to MLB.com). He's still striking out less than a batter per inning, but he's not walking many guys and he's working deep into games at only 19. 6'6" and has some projectibility left in his frame, so velocity could see a jump still. For a guy that tends to pitch to more contact, he doesn't exactly have a ton of hits against him which is interesting considering that at Low-A, balls are more likely to find holes. I have not heard much on him, but it will be interesting to see the reports on him in the offseason.

    - Since heading to Low A, both Starling Heredia and Jeren Kendall have come crashing down to earth. The only thing really going right is Kendall has 5 triples in only 95 AB's. Both will need to work on adjusting to more contact in 2018.

    - Last years first round pick, Gavin Lux got off to a horrendous start in Low A, but something has begun to click in the second half. Has a .943 OPS in August after .720 in July.

    - Keibert Ruiz is getting pub as being potentially one the top catching prospects in MiLB. Only 19(AT THE END OF JULY) and he is WRECKING HiA to the tune of a .957 OPS in 29 games. Reports are that he is extremely advanced on both sides of the plate, but not necessarily FROM both sides of the plate yet. He's much better as a LHH right now compared to RHH. He's young and blocked for the time being, so his dev schedule could be slow.

    - Caleb Ferguson (LHP #21) is having a low key great year in hitter friendly HiA. 2.84 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, 6 HR, 133 K, 117.1 IP. I will be interested to hear what the reports are on him as this is two straight VERY good years.

    - Yusniel Diaz is acclimating well to AA with an .864 OPS in 18 games

AAAA guy. Just organizational depth, but Joc's numbers in the field suggested it was time to move him to the corner. Especially with Verdugo knocking on the door, it makes sense. Verdugo and Puig in RF and CF are going to make taking an extra base on our OF a tricky proposition.

So Ramos is no one of importance, gotcha.
Joc´s numbers on the scale have suggested the same..if he´s not careful he´ll be in Willie Calhoun territory soon

Impressive relief outing by Walker Buehler tonight. After an error and infield single, he retires 8 straight, with 4 strikeouts. #Dodgers

Forgot to watch thanks for the update. I also miss Mitchell White's start due to streaming and internet issues but from the box score it wasn't too bad. HR hurt but he did strike out 7 but walked 4 and only lasted 3 innings. According to the broadcast they did mention he's on a innings limit.

    • Walker Buehler continued his transition to a relief pitcher, pitching 2⅔ innings in relief, his longest relief appearance this season in his sixth appearance last night for Oklahoma City. Only once has he pitched with only two days between appearances, so his final steps might be to go back-to-back or at least just one day between games. Buehler has now pitched 88 innings in 2017. MLB rosters can expand a week from today so Buehler might get one or two games more for Oklahoma City before a decision is made to bring him up.
    anyone? anyone???

Would guess that he is not a Sept 1 call up, but they'll bring him up whenever the AAA season ends. That way they can continue to monitor his innings and get him comfortable throwing more on 1-2 days rest instead of the 3 he is currently going on.

you would know more than me ckwg
but i thought they were grooming him to join the team for the postseason
yet he's currently not on the 40 man roster, and would need to be by 8/31 in order to be eligible
i understand not wanting to rush him
but sight unseen you'd have to think he'd be a better option than cingrani or watson (lhp/rhp notwithstanding)

Delaying him coming up won't have anything to do with whether or not he will be on the postseason roster. I'm sure they just want to get him comfortable with a quicker turnaround before bringing him up to the big league roster. Too much can go wrong with that scenario as MiLB is a bit more of a controlled environment.
