And there it is, Bellinger invited to the HR Derby
He's holding out on accepting until he finds out if his pops can pitch to him

    You know it.
I just see it as a right of passage for guys like him..can't do anything about it, rather him be the slugger he is and have to go and be a part of it than for him to just be some Ethier caliber fella and not.
BTW Ethier's 2nd highest HR total in a season = 23, Bellinger already has that beat as a rook with just 2 months of work. Smh
Not sure if this has been mentioned either, but Bellinger's OPS right now VS left handed pitching is a healthy 1.016
    Murder.

Lol Yeah I'll probably be watching with the sound muted as well
TBT, I've always watched my share of MLB games like that anyway
But I'm not sure if Berman is actually gonna call it this time around
Haven't really seen him at all since NFL Countdown gave him the boot and then his wife died in that car accident, so maybe he'll sit this one out
Anyway, yeah I'll be watching because it's Bellinger and why not?
Hope he puts on a good show, similar to Joc and Corey the last couple years

I feel like he has punished lefties when they miss middle in on him. Good breaking stuff away still seems to give him some fits, but you make a mistake and he doesn't really seem to miss it often.

I know Morosi was on MLB Radio yesterday likely saying this, but there was another host on that said his FO sources were saying something similar. He doesn't expect them to touch the lineup, but they are going after a pitcher to slot into the rotation. He added, and this is going to piss off a lot of people on here, that it is not necessarily a #2 that they are focusing on. He said that he is hearing the team feels that the cost for frontline pitching is still unreasonable and the organization is looking at a potential guy to slot in behind Wood and McCarthy that will eat up innings, but aren't solely focused on that 1-B that everyone is talking about. He didn't really go into much detail on that, but said that is what he is hearing. He added that folks seem a little surprised on the targets and not sure what that means within the org. He said that one idea he heard is that the Dodgers may be viewing Walker Buehler as a late call up to be that guy. Seems farfetched as he has been good this year, but he is not going deep into games yet. I think the next two games for Buehler are going to be interesting to watch. If he blows through these games sort of like he did this last one, that could be the number the club is looking for to send him over to OKC. They gave Stewart 10 AA starts before pushing him last season.

They also are looking for a bullpen piece, however they want to get the rotation piece ASAP. I guess they want to see what it would cost to get that pitcher for the rotation and then figure it out from there. I could see them getting a guy like that and slotting him into the rotation and moving the other pieces into the bullpen to see how that works for a couple of weeks. One of the guys this morning thinks the Dodgers should move Stewart into a setup role ala Blanton from last season. He thinks Stewart would thrive in that situation.

Whelp. Hopefully things go our way for once in October. Gonna need some good fortune. Wood and Mccarthy are really gonna have to stay healthy and productive.

I totally get the FO's thought process here. But man, would it be nice to have JD Martinez in this lineup, an elite reliever, and a frontline starter. But I don't know who those starters would be and the cost will be insane. Could we trade someone off the major league roster? Like a Joc Pederson? He's a good ballplayer but there's a guy who can slide into his role pretty seamlessly (Verdugo).

That is all you can hope for every year. Just too many stupid things can happen that costs a deserving team a chance to win and some band of washed up has-beens suddenly comes back to life and play out of their minds for a couple of weeks to win it all.

The thing about it, too, is there doesn't really seem to be an ace on the trade block this year.

Archer has good peripherals and his basic run prevention would probably improve in the NL (I have nothing to back that up) He's already done a 3.0 WAR this season.

Quintana is having a mediocre year so while his future value may be great, he may not help so much with the whole world series thing this year.

How are you going to tell me what I said??? My stance has not changed, I have always wanted to keep Bellinger and have said trade Verdugo because of our OF jam. You must be over 60 because your memory is starting to go.

Who cares where he hits, if he produces and helps win games why does it matter???

I am not sure I want Quintana.......caveat.....not that any of us have a say in anything, but that puts another LHP in the rotation. Grey is young and his has pitched well, but im not sure I want another injured pitcher on the roster. IMO Verlander is just too old. The guy is 34. I am hopin for Archer, I think he would be a great RHP behind Kershaw.

Verlander almost did a 6 WAR last season and finished 2nd in the CY Young voting.
    But he sucks this year.

Cole hasn't done much since 2015. Pretty mediocre.

Some of the belief is he is frustrated with how bad the team has been, but sheesh his walk numbers are awful.

Verlander and Kate bought a house in Beverly Hills last year. So you can swing by anytime trade or no trade.

Honestly, I would take Verlander in a heartbeat. At worst he would eat innings, at best he could be a legit 1-B. In theory he could be had for virtually no prospects if a team was willing to take on his salary... I wonder how much (if any) salary our FO would be willing to take on.

IMO, that is too much salary for the team to take on without giving some back, only making the return on prospects that much higher. A guy like Kazmir would HAVE to go in a deal, otherwise the Dodgers are right up against the tax, which is supposed to start getting detrimental here this year, I believe.

    I remember those days.
Had the goodies bag near the bed too.
A close friend growing up is an RN and would routinely send me samples the drug reps would leave.
    Now I take heart medication.

I saw the same, but it was from Buster Olney..he too said LAD is not even thinking about adding a bat because they believe in Bellinger.
Colome is having an up and down year, but maybe a Archer/Colome package could come to fruition?
There's also Quintana and Robertson, though, and Robertson has been really good this year.
However, if it's a #3 starter they're set on, hopefully Wood can prove reliable

There's an interesting thing happening this weekend in that the Bags are playing the Rocks in Zona. Do we want to bury the Rockies so that we can concentrate on the Bags or have the Rocks destroy them so we can put them both in the same position in the standings. ASSUMING we beat the improved Pads! I'd rather the Rocks bury the Bags.
