http://houston.astros.mlb.com/news/...15&content_id=25982424&vkey=news_hou&c_id=hou daily interleague play here we come.
we'll have to see how this turns out. i hate the interleague play we have now since we don't always play the best teams from the AL. But this new way should mean we actually play top teams like the Sox, Rangers, and our old World Series foe, the Yankees. should be interesting, but i've always been in favor of keeping the leagues away from each other until the All-Star game and the World Series.
true but i think with new schedule will have every division have an equal schedule no more we get the yankees and the giants get the o's idk what it means for the yearly rival series' like dodgers/angels, mets/yanks
Obviously I care if I was mad about it. I hate interleague play. I think it should be eliminated all together. I like the leagues being separate, and meeting in the WS.
yeah, that's what made the World Series so special. You either have teams that have never met before or teams that only ever met in the World Series. but i'll wait and see with this new style. maybe we'll finally be good at interleague play in 2013 but i wont count all my eggs just yet.
devil's advocate: it would be better to have everyone equal either all DH, or all no DH it's kinda dumb to have 2 separate set of rules for a whole season, then for the biggest series to have to alter the way you have played all season long
Pujols contract offers are rumored to be 9 years at between $22-23M/year. Wow.... I <3 Pujols but would be pissed if we got him for such a contract.
But if 'that' is the only way that we make the playoffs then it really won't matter anyways will it? Sort of like Little League where everyone gets a 'participation' trophy... completely bogus. Also like there being 92 college bowl games so that everyone who played even .500 ball gets into a bowl game, even if its the Motel 6 Weinerschnitzel Pork Rinds Bowl. Complete BS and now making it into a bowl game means squat compared to previously. Why not have separate Wild Card playoffs and invite everyone who had a .501 or better record and then take the top 2 from the Wild Card playoffs and insert them into the playoffs of the division winners. That way more people will have high self esteem. <coughgaycough>
My response was meant to be sarcastic/tongue-in-cheek, and I absolutely agree with you on the lame "participation" awards -- it's like, congratulations loser!
Still do you think that we really need more teams in the playoffs? I get that the MLB in it's ever present thirst for ever more revenue wants more teams in the playoffs simply to have more teams involved in the season for a longer, more nationally involved playoff system but at what point down that slippery slope does it resemble LL?
I like more wild cards. Fucking baseball has the longest season and the least playoff teams. Fuck that, get with the program!
I would say no, but the argument could be made that after 162 regular season games more teams should qualify. Or you could shorten the schedule or even split the season... the latter worked out well for us in 1981, where we wouldn't have made the postseason otherwise...
