I am all about Cano and really want him, but fuck this shit, hahaha http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/9725806/robinson-cano-seeking-10-year-305-million-deal The link says it all....I didn't even read the story after that.
This shit needs to end. These umps need to be suspended for multiple games when they do shit like this. There is NOOOOOOO reason this should ever happen, none. We have the technology. Put one guy in the booth upstairs and have him review instantaneously and the game won't slow down. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/yahoo-sports-minute/c-b-bucknor-blows-another-call-083247079.html?vp=1
It's completely fucking dumbfounding that we don't use instant replay. I think this is the year it affects the playoffs in a big way. Just has to, th year before we semi implement it, I feel like it's gonna happen It takes us like 30 seconds to see a bad call was made, it's really not that hard. Archaic sport sometimes
Definitely not a fan of the braves. I don't mind bein old school but they did this shit to Harper, Fernandez and now this. They deal with this shit in a really poor way and bitch and moan. Stop fussing over the unwritten rules and play the fucking game.
The only issue was that it was a girl talking... she might be good at reading the script in a low cut blouse ( and that is a good thing) but what does she know about baseball? Oh she has eyes... and that blown call was pretty messed up... Ok
This. I watched four different replays on MLB.com and the last was the home town station... talk about bush league homer announcing!! We'd never hear that from Vinny. Sure Gomez should not have mouthed off so much but look closely and see that the entire Braves infield was mouthing off at him. The moron umps should have ejected McCann first for obstruction. Then IF they eject Gomez, which I don't really mind so much, then they should have ejected the whole Braves infield for the same offense. Homer umps... Bad sports Braves... ...at least they lost...
I don't think the Braves were in the wrong in this one, even though I think their team is filled with douchebags. Gomez was acting like a douche. I don't care if you pimp your HR, but cussing at the pitcher when rounding the bases is unacceptable IMO. Maholm's teammates (Freeman and McCann ) were standing up for him. Kind of like when Kershaw was shouting towards the Dbags dugout and telling them "You'll see" a couple of years ago. This was when Parra pimped a HR and mouthed off to AJ.
In the spirit of 'doing something about it' I just got off of the phone with the Umpire Review desk at the MLB Commissioners office. I spoke with Matt about this topic and explained that I've umpired a great many little league games and I don't understand how McCann was not ejected after willfully obstructing the plate. I explained that I didn't mind Gomez being ejected for mouthing off but how is it that McCann did not get ejected. Matt replied that the umpire has sole discretion about who gets ejected. I explained that the entire bench clearing event would not have occurred without McCann obstructing the base paths. He agreed. I asked how is it that the batter is prevented from the next base and gets ejected and yet the willfully obstructing player is permitted to play on? He said, in a most politically correct reply, that this is at the umpires discretion. I said that if I were umpiring a game, trying to protect the game and the safety of the players, then willful obstruction is cause for removal. He agreed again. I provided my email address and Matt assured me that he'd pass along my thoughts to the Umpiring Review Board which was meeting at that time in their offices. I thanked him for taking my call. He also shared that both 1B Johnson and Gomez are being handed 1 game suspensions. FWIW the MLB office # is 212.931.7800 and I was stunned when the line was answered on the first ring. Mine was far from the first call Matt had received today on this matter.
