I did some music stuff with his nephew. I asked him if Ralph came ever to peace with it and he quickly said "No!"

Nick Cafardo said today that the Dodgers are expected to make a strong run at Patrick Corbin. I don't see the team really making a run at him unless Kershaw opts out and goes somewhere else. Corbin is going to be getting a lot of money and he has only had one great season with two good ones.

Btw, impressive the way Puig expresses himself in English.
Obviously bright, and aware of baseball' s subtleties, he, in interviews, is the antithesis of what he presents on the field.
But to dismiss him as a total dunce, or whatever clever put down can be mustered, is a mistake, imo.

Knowing Manny he was probably pretending to steal signs just to fuck with the Brewers.

Honestly though, stealing signs while at 2B is just part of the game. A little punky, sure, but it’s why catchers drop complicated signs with runners on 2B.

Maybe next year former Dodgers catcher AJ Ellis replaces another former Dodgers catcher Yasmani Grandal as the backup catcher.

There was a rumor that the Dodgers somewhat pursued him at this trade deadline, but the Padres were not interested in helping us out. He was surprisingly good this year and woulda been nice to have his bat for this postseason run.

Joe Girardi was in the running for both the Reds and Angels head coaching positions. Rumor is that the Reds were expected to offer him the job, before he pulled his name from contention(which then brought on all the Bell hype). The word from people close to him is that he is under the strong impression that an opportunity with a more substantial franchise is going to open up either here soon or in the year ahead. He is said to be very interested in returning to the bigs as a coach so him walking away from these openings is a bit odd. Especially with the Reds having a great farm and the Angels with two of the best players in the game already on the roster.

The speculation is that he is under the impression that the Cubs will have an opening in a year when Maddon's contract is up, but that is a hard one to believe. The more analytical teams are going towards cheaper managers that can corral a clubhouse and properly use their info to manage a game most effectively. These are two things that Girardi was not the absolute best at in his time with the Yankees and he is said to be expecting a nice payday. I wonder if there could be another team in the fold that he has his eyes on, the White Sox are speculated, but my feeling is maybe the Giants could be a consideration as well. They rely heavily on their managers own in-game decisions and have been said to be steering somewhat away from a full on analytical build. With a new FO, they could also want their own manager here in a year. We shall see, but it could be an interesting thing to keep an eye on.

The Giants made a couple of moves today, most notably outrighting known pest, Kelby Tomlinson. For some reason I always thought this kid killed us, but holy shit do the numbers not agree on that part. One of his three career home runs did come off of Kershaw. After an impressive debut, this dude has pretty much been shit and he always seemed good for a defensive miscue when you needed it. He’s probably going to sign with the Rockies so that he can bring out more of my misguided hate towards him and that punchable face.
