Once the media catches wind and the #metoo movement sinks it's teeth in, forget about it. But now that it's out I want names

Yeah...and in the light of what may be lurking looks like a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Giants are setting their sights high with their GM search. Tried to poach David Stearns away from the Brewers only to have Milwaukee ownership turn them down(praise Jebus). Stearns would be a HUGE shift into a more analytical approach, which is something the Giants were rumored to be somewhat wary of. With a few other teams also in search of a new GM, it could make for an interesting contest for top talent... though it is the Orioles and Mets as the competition.

Hah! Nightenfail said he was the leading candidate right off the bat and like immediately after that, all the big name reporters said he was not even in the running for consideration.

    "Are you an ex-gnat?"
    "Are you past your prime?"
    "Are you injury prone?"

"Well, that checks all my boxes. Here's a 6 year offer, Mr Lincecum."

    pretty cool

Chase Utley's Dodgers teammates gave him a perfect retirement gift
by Enrico Campitelli | NBC Sports Philadelphia — 5 hours ago

Chase Utley will not be on the Los Angeles Dodgers roster for their big National League Championship Series against the Milwaukee Brewers that begins tonight at Miller Park.

This is expected but still something of a bummer for Philly fans who wanted to cheer on Chase one last time, hoping for a pinch-hit home run off the bench in a big spot to help his Hall of Fame cause.

Alas, Chase will be watching the series like the rest of us but at least he'll have a comfortable rocking chair to enjoy it from.

That's because Utley's Dodgers teammates continue to play up his role as the dad of the team by gifting him a good old rocking chair. If you're not familiar, Utley has played the mentoring role like a champ, particularly with Dodgers' youngster Kike Hernandez. They've got Father's Day T-shirts and everything.

Check out the dope chair that includes both Phillies and Dodgers logos.

"The boys in blue made me my own personalized rocking chair. Thanks guys. #AmiThatOld?," Utley wrote as the caption.

This is now the second-most famous chair in Utley lore. See No. 16 HERE in the list of 26 Times Chase Utley was The Man.

No reason that Dozier can't be benched for the WS and Utley given the shot at one last big moment.
At least he would be fresh. :D

Oh to be a fly on the wall in Ned's interview with Peter Angelos a couple months back. Just all kinds of awfulness from every direction.

Did you hear the reason why the Mets are not going to take an analytical approach with their new FO? Apparently one of the Wilpon's fucking hates the analytical side of it and the idea of having a GM sit down and explain it to him would, "make him put a bullet in his head."

yeah as much as i wish some parts of the analytics weren't part of the game
you truly put yourself at a disadvantage if you don't adapt
i think limiting the degree of the shift would reduce the constant launch angle pressure
make second base the imaginary wall that ss and third don't cross would work for me

Adam McCalvy had an article today detailing what could have been. The Dodgers and Brewers were close to deal on Aug 31s, 2016 that would have sent Ryan Braun to the LA in exchange for Puig, Brandon McCarthy and 2 prospects. The Dodgers walked away in the final minutes and in hindsight, it is a pretty good thing they did. Braun did end 2016 on a solid run and he could have been the difference maker the club needed to get by the Cubs, but nothing is for certain. If you remember, Puig was in AAA for a spell that year. Since the nixed deal, Puig has been the supremely better where he put up a better WAR this season alone than Braun has since that time. Not to mention the horrid contract still attached to Braun and who knows who the prospects were. Fun to think about, but I think I am glad it didn't happen.... though I will wonder what coulda happened in 2016.

It appears that the Astros may have been caught cheating. This was a subject before the playoffs on MLB Radio that there is a lot of belief around baseball that the Astros are known for skirting the rules to get an advantage. Also, the Red Sox have taken their methods of protecting their signs to the next level in this series, which is another eyebrow raise when the Sox head coach was the Astros bench coach a year ago. Could she some light into how the Astros players always seem to know what’s coming.

My conspiracy theory: they did this during the World Series, especially with Darvish. Fuck them. They were confident that Darvish was tipping yet the Dodgers and their pitch tipping guru, Utley, stated they didn’t think he was tipping and couldn’t figure it out

If they did, they did it without getting caught and hung a WS banner. Dodgers should take notes.

This story is starting to blow up. It sounds like teams have been quietly watching this while warning the head office and the next team in line about what was going on. MLB shrugged it off, but it looks like the A’s, Indians and Sox have proof and waited until they had lots of it to do a move. MLB will probably shrug this off, but there is a small chance they could make an example of the organization as this dude is apparently a silent stooge of the owner. Would love to see a death penalty levied against them.
