Despite off-field issues, Raiders' Aldon Smith IS eligible to play Sunday, per source. OAK will consider playing him, based on conditioning.

    • drivel from the ESPN.com news services
The Pittsburgh Steelers say their coach-to-coach communications during Thursday night's season opener in New England were interfered with.

The Patriots say theirs were, too. The NFL took responsibility for the breakdown, saying it controls communications equipment, including headsets, for both teams.
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said after the game, a 28-21 Patriots victory at Gillette Stadium, that Pittsburgh's coach-to-coach headsets picked up New England's radio broadcast for the majority of the first half, preventing his staff from communicating with each other. Yahoo! Sports, citing an unnamed source, reported that the Steelers will file a complaint with the league about both the equipment failure and officials not turning off headsets on both teams' sidelines.

Friday morning, a report on Steelers.com, the team's official website, said that whenever an NFL representative was on the Patriots' sideline, the Steelers' headsets cleared, but when the representative walked way, the game broadcast returned. ESPN has not been able to independently confirm that report, which was unattributed.

The $64 question is that IF this happened elsewhere would it even make the news?

    Of course not.

But when Bellicheat presides over an organization renowned for cheating on any and every angle they can find while concurrently ALWAYS insisting on complete innocence even when repeatedly caught in the act what in the hell are we supposed to think.

    Patriots = Cheaters.

Confirmed for the 294th time.. to the surprise of exactly no one.

The only thing that surprised me about the cheating was that they did it last night in the opener fresh off the heels of Deflategate. They have nuts of steel and no fucks to give. Dirty rat bastards

Yeah they care not whatsoever... and carry this BS chip on their shoulder that its OK to cheat so long as they haven't been caught. Losers one and all.

I watched that Katie Nolan sports wrap up show the other night and OMG does this chick fawn over Brady or what? She totally defends him on EVERYTHING.

Balance in newscasting? Not an iota.

Which pissed me off almost as much as not being able to find any Katie topless pics. GRrrrrr...

I gotta wonder. On that last play call from Seattle in the Super Bowl....yes that was boneheaded play calling.....but a small part of me kinda wonders if they knew that was coming. I didn't see any rush coverage from the Pats even though that was the most expected play in the history of Super Bowl goal line stands.

I mean 7 years of this cheating, and Goddell burns all the evidence. It does make me think this was all manipulated.....the cover up is always worse than the crime.

I fell asleep during parts of that game of course I was tired but it was boring to me. Anyone else feel that way? As expected all the talk was about how great Brady was and how Gronk is so unstoppable but the Steelers left him WIDE open. It's only the 1st game I get it but there were so many mistakes made and the Pats let a 32 year old RB get them for 132 yards? Not to mention the missed field goals. Came away unimpressed!

I mean really... Goodell burns the evidence?!?

WHO burns evidence? ONLY someone trying to hide the truth. Period.

Our whole culture of the liars and thieves in DC to lying Goodell to lying Selig to lying Stern.. the pattern clearly shows evidence supporting the assertion that ALL of those in charge are liars and thieves.

I can feel a Friday rant bubbling just below the surface...

Hey Irish is it 0'beer thirty yet?

Aldon's character and the Raiders are a match made in heaven. Good signing for them.

...Boring. Raiders haven't had any issues in years, but people still act like they're full of felons.

All the dinkin and dunkin from Brady..pretty much. Steelers woulda handled them with Pouncey and Bell regardless of the headsets.
