Mao (~100Million) and Pol Pot (1/3 of his population) were pretty damn good at that too. There is one thing that communism is good at....
The whole "killed their own people" thing does not move the needle for me. I have seen it before and everytime the 'own people' arent really his people. Just because they live in the same country as you does not mean they are 'your people'. Specially if they hate you and are fighting against you or helping your enemy. The Kurds were in no way Saddam Husseins 'people'... yet that is all we heard. We always use "his own people" as a dog whistle that gets all the pups lined up in a row. If he kills his own people then we must go to war against him, think about the childrens. At least that is the logic. Truth is that we just looking for an excuse to go all World Police on people. We dont really care about their children. Who when they grow up we will want to bomb anyway. Or they will want to bomb us. Either way, rinse repeat.
Thank God I don't think the way you do. The enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.
Nahh....see my post above about Syria. I don't believe in going to war unless directly threatened. But it's worth paying attention to the transgressions of other societies so I can properly virtue signal.
Im not saying that we must go to war, on the contrary. Im saying that unfortunately most people can be moved to think its morally a good idea to go to war when a dictator 'kills his own people'. We all react emotionally to things, but we need to try hard not to think emotionally too.
No emotions and bluffing and drawing fake lines in the sand is the way, eh? Yeah we had that I think. Yep. Especially dealing with people, who for their whole history, have understood and only reacted to power and might. Who laugh at diplomacy and spit in the face of indeciveness. A slaughter a few here and there. Yes, definitely let's get a coalition together...Or wait for the UN. Then paint the US Marines helmets blue, and pretend it's a " coalition". Pretend like anyone else is prepared to take that risk...Talk it out. Sheeeeiitttt...They're not our kids dyin'...Fuck 'em.
Not saying any of that either. Hell, if you feel the need to go to war then go to war. But fucking go in like the big bad motherfucker we are and clean house. Who cares if people think we are the bad guy once its done. Point is that with war you dont go into it lightly. And once you go in you go in all in.
i hear what bz is saying and i think most do all this pc bullshit has trickled down to everything people think and then posture instead of just acting/reacting more worried about how they're perceived instead of doing the greater good and i think you're on the right path rube with the go out and kick ass mentality
so in that view we're now at war with Syria? To accomplish what? The Russians were 'supposed' to have confiscated all of their chemical weapons years ago. so much for the Russians Rube makes an interesting (conspiracy) theory a few posts back Does this neatly get Trump off the hook for his inside Russian connections Perhaps but only to the most shallow viewers... most Americans Otherwise it was a strike of no consequence Except perhaps to North Korea Like that would matter anyways
I didn't even accomplish anything, other than waste millions of dollars in military equipment (Broken window fallacy?) The Assad regime is still running operations out of the airfield that was bombed. And I don't think this threatens North Korea one iota. They don't act in a rational manner, so threats will not subdue them. Besides, if the US attacks North Korea, they'll probably nuke Seoul, and there's probably not a damn thing that can be done to stop them.
Other than Raytheon's increased drone backlog, 3 days later what positive effect can be claimed from these strikes? We agree that Kim Jong Un is wholly irrational and unpredictable and therefore 'perhaps' it doesn't matter. OTOH raining down massive hurt from an offshore Navy position still means something. If only it gained Trump a chance to scold China's Xi Jinping to do somethine before we do. It reminds me of the Iran hostage situation going 400+ days under Carter until cowboy wildcard Ronnie got in office. Trump is exactly scary enough to get peoples attention in much the same way. At least we're done with Obama's weak wrists
and yet china is saying they will help w fatboy now i really don't think trump is nearly as stupid as people like think he is and anyone who ever played knows there are short and long games i think there is a long game here that is just getting started a small thing that heartened me last weekend occurred on the venice beach boardwalk i stopped to have a bite on the boardwalk w a girl and we found ourselves sitting across from an old hippy w all the anti trump stickers and prop the strip was packed and yet no one was stopping to look at the "RESIST" stickers a guy grabs a big boom box and starts playing some "funk trump" song at top volume just great after the song ends i'm thinking all the liberal crazies will burst out in applause and yet NOT ONE set of hands comes together interesting. and as i watch the people walk by and finish my meal amongst all the tits and ass i realize something i have been sitting there for almost an hour and NO ONE ever even so much as stopped to look at his stuff i think people have grown tired of all the constantly negative hysterical snowflakes screaming into the cameras and shouting down opinions different than theirs that day on the beach was a small measure to be sure but seems a better one than any polls out there even yahoo news has backed up and only runs two or three negative trump stories instead of 20 let the man do his job he is clearly far more qualified to lead than BO or any of those politicians he thumped into the dirt we should all hope for our children and this great country that this man and his administration can get us back on track imo he is growing into a very difficult job and his ego will not allow him to fail in navigating a successful path forward lets face it we aren't talking about tiddlywinks here have to say i am far more confident seeing guys like tillerson our there doing business as opposed to fucking LURCH no hundred billion dollar payoffs for iran and their ilk or dragging james taylor out to sing as policy it might not be perfect but i think the general sentiment is that at least adults are back behind the controls as they were
Was that in Venice Beach , California you were in? Or Italy or some other place? You sure? Hey if the guy was an original old hippie, odd that he was still a devout lefty...Lol.
The issue is that for the last 8 years every major fuck up has been covered up by the media and a party that only sees party first. It has come to a point that blatantly telling a lie is dismissed as long as it is only one party. People are sick of it. People are sick of common sense not prevailing in place of bowing to whatever ic or ism is currently being cowtowed to. Now you have a guy who doesn't really care for placating and does not get bureaucratic bullshit that holds up progress. So they attack and attack. He could kill the gravy train and all the secrets may start spilling out. Can't have that.
yeah huckleberry... about that ... closing down the CFPB and the EPA aren't exactly 'adult' moves there bucko Unless your idea of 'adult' doesn't want US Citizens protected by these agencies unless 'adult' means plundering of all possible public revenue streams Drain Wall St. by placing the Wall St. wolves themselves in charge Welcome to Grand Canyon National Park Brought to you by Amazon Sorry women your bodies are no longer your own because some old white guys Can't grasp not mixing church with state An oath all swear to before taking office... to screw us I will give you that Trump has swagger and knows how to use it effectively. This is very good for us. He's also highly conversent in getting what he wants and will now do that for 'us'.. in theory Foreign countries will listen far differently than with low bowing BO, this is also good for us. Trump is smarter than average but aren't most leaders? Just to accumulate power requires acumen. His gross vanity and egotistical tendencies will make him easily led (Lou Brock - "show me a man who's afraid of looking bad and I can beat him every time") I'm willing to give him time to shake it out but you have to admit that many of his first moves were directly opposite of what he promised
As Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer aptly put it, "following eight years of relative apathy and inaction after worse war crimes, the message from the new American president was not that there’s a new sheriff in town, but that there IS a sheriff in town." and this from a liberal left leaning rag like the Post
Holy shit...The gassing of Syrian civilians by Assad ( not " his people ", lest it trigger a Rube admonition), was a complete fabrication !!! Wag the Dog!!! The video, made in the studio evidently, with really good choking child and baby actors and pretty fair Arab thespians, too. You don't many children willing to have ventilators shoved down there throats like that. Good CGI. Hope they get their due come the award season next year! Must have been in the studio where they made the Lunar Landing flim flam, ya think?
